Anheuser-Busch Celebrates Budweiser’s 140th Anniversary At The Congressional Baseball Game

Turn on the news lately and chances are you’ll hear plenty of Beltway pundits talking about how partisan Washington has become, and that if only our elected officials would reach across the aisle, perhaps lasting, positive changes would be the result.

Normally we tend to agree, but this week, we’re saying to both Democrats and Republicans to keep that long-standing rivalry alive, grab a baseball bat — and play ball!

This year, Anheuser-Busch is an official All-Star Sponsor of the 55th Annual Roll Call Congressional Baseball Game, where members of the U.S. Senate and House team up along party lines to settle scores (and maybe make some bi-partisan allegiances) off the floor and on the field at Nationals Park, home of the Washington Nationals.

“Baseball and Budweiser represent what is great about summertime in America. We’re partnering with Buffalo Wild Wings and the Congressional Baseball Game to make this year the best yet for the fans and players,” said Doug Bailey, vice president of Federal Affairs and head of the Washington, DC office for Anheuser-Busch. “We’re excited to cheer on players from our ‘hometown’ delegations across the country like California, Colorado, Missouri and Georgia.”

While the game itself gives Senators and Representatives an opportunity to put their differences aside for a night, more importantly the event raises funds for local charities including The Boys & Girls Club of Greater Washington, The Washington Nationals Dream Foundation, and The Washington Literacy Center.

This year’s game is extra special because it marks the 140^th anniversary of the Budweiser brand. Fans and players will experience Budweiser’s new Americapackaging, get a chance to see a pre-game concert by the Wil Gravatt band, and our guests will get to watch the game from the Silver Slugger Suite and Shock Top Patio.

For those keeping score, the Democrats are currently riding a seven-game winning streak after besting the Republicans opponents 5-2 at last year’s game (which featured a surprise appearance by President Obama). Will this be the year that the GOP puts one back in the win column, or will we see the Dems make it eight in a row?
