Anheuser-Busch Contributes Additional $350,000 to Employee Disaster Relief Fund

Anheuser-Busch Delivers Five Additional Truckloads of Emergency Drinking Water to Florida and Georgia; Former Anheuser-Busch Chairman and CEO August Busch III Donates $250,000 to American Red Cross

ST. LOUIS, MO  (Sept. 25, 2017) – Anheuser-Busch mobilized additional support for Hurricanes Harvey and Irma relief efforts, donating an additional $350,000 to its Employee Disaster Relief Fund and sending 280,000 more cans of clean water to Florida and Georgia. Anheuser-Busch employees across the country donated an additional $60,000 in support of their colleagues in impacted areas.

Anheuser-Busch has six facilities and more than 1,600 colleagues throughout Florida and Georgia, and leadership has reached out to each impacted team member to confirm their safety. At this time, all are safe and the company remains in close contact.

The increased contribution to the Employee Disaster Relief Fund will help provide immediate relief services, including food, clothing and necessary supplies, and will also provide up to $10,000 for employees to repair or replace personal property. Over the past several weeks, the company has focused on additional assistance for employees in the heavily-hit areas—covering hotel costs, providing cleaning supplies and generators, organizing a t-shirt drive, creating Amazon gift lists and donating 7,000 clothing items to team members and their families.                                                                                    

The brewery’s relief contributions to date total more than $1.3 million—through American Red Cross’ Annual Disaster Giving Program and Anheuser-Busch’s Employee Disaster Relief Fund—and more than 1.8 million cans of water across Texas, Louisiana, Georgia and Florida. And, this week, former Anheuser-Busch Chairman and CEO August Busch III joined the cause with a generous $250,000 donation to help those impacted by the devastating storms.

“I am happy to join Anheuser-Busch, the employees of Anheuser-Busch, and their wholesaler partners in helping those recovering from hurricanes Harvey and Irma,” said Mr. Busch. “With so much devastation in Texas and Florida, I am grateful to be able to help families re-build and get back on their feet as quickly as possible.”

Anheuser-Busch’s most recent water donation was delivered to Savannah and Brunswick, Georgia, as well as Homestead, Daytona Beach, Melbourne, Lakeland, Sebring, Ocala, and Naples, Florida. From these locations, cans were delivered directly to communities in need with the help of Anheuser-Busch’s distributor partners.

The water shipped to Florida and Georgia was produced at Anheuser-Busch’s brewery in Cartersville, Georgia on Labor Day this year, when the brewery switched from brewing beer to producing clean, canned water. Since 1988, Anheuser-Busch has donated over 76 million cans of emergency drinking water to communities affected by natural disasters.
