E9 Brewing Announces the Opening of New Brewery and Taproom

Tacoma, WA : Today, E9 Brewing Company, Tacoma’s first craft brewery, is proud to announce the opening of their new brewery and taproom in the city’s Historic Brewing District on May 1^st, 2019. The new facility is located at 2506 Fawcett Ave, and will house a larger brew system, increased barrel storage, larger fermentation tanks and for the first time, a taproom separate from the Historic Engine House No. 9 Restaurant located in the 6^th Avenue Business District. The taproom has floor to ceiling windows looking out into the brewing area. A viewing area resides near the barrel storage and for days that weather permits, guests can enjoy a fenced courtyard for outdoor seating. There will be 12 taps focusing on their award-winning farmhouse and wild ales, hop forward pales and IPA’s and numerous other beers they will be creating on the new 15 BBL system. There will be growlers and bottles to-go, as well as rare bottles for in-house consumption. With the addition of a new canning line, 16oz 4-packs will soon be available to-go as well as available in the local Western Washington market. Food options will include various locally sourced cheeses and charcuterie, as well as some small snacks and sandwiches, with room in the courtyard to bring in periodic food vendors. The taproom will be 21 and over only, open Wednesday-Sunday to start. An overall re-branding has brought life to the outside of the facility, new merchandise and all future bottle and can labels.

About E9 Brewing Co:  What started as a little brewery to supply the restaurant only back in 1995, Tacoma’s first craft brewery, has evolved from making standard pub style beers.   They have gained attention and awards producing some of the best Belgian style farmhouse and mixed culture ales in the state. After an ownership change in 2011, head brewer Shane Johns began steering the brewery in that direction, and started one of the first barrel aging programs, focused on those styles of beers, in the Northwest. The barrel aged and fruited farmhouse/wild ales have consistently medaled at the Washington Beer Awards and the brewery has won “Best Mid-Sized Brewery” in the state the last three years running from 2016-18. This is in part by utilizing some of the best whole fruit and produce grown in the Puyallup Valley by Sterino Farms and some of the best orchard fruit from the hills above Lake Chelan grown by Diamondback Acres. While the brewery has moved locations, it is still part of the X Group Restaurant family and The Original Engine House No. 9 Restaurant remains in the historical 1907 firehouse it has been operating in since 1972.  The restaurant will continue to have one of the more elevated tap lists and bottle selections in Tacoma, while continuing to feature E9 Brewing Co. Flagship beers and their limited offerings. Besides being self-distributed throughout Washington, E9 can be found in Oregon, California, New York, Massachusetts, Washington D.C., Florida and across the border in British Columbia, Alberta and Quebec.
