Yuengling Now Largest US Owned Brewery Jumping Ahead of Sam Adams

Based on the numbers coming out of Beer Marketer’s Insight, DG Yuengling, boosted by it’s new Ohio facility, has now surpassed Samuel Adams /Boston Beer as far as barrels sold.  Yuengling sold 2.5 million barrels in 2011 followed closely by Boston Beer at 2.4 million barrels sold.  These are of course estimated numbers but basically Yuengling & Boston Beer have traded this honor back and forth several times over the last few years.  As Yuengling expands beyond it’s limited distribution (13 states) it may push further.  Samuel Adams has a much wider distribution area currently.
