WILK Friday BeerBuzz–8 June 2012 Millbock Brewing Richard Cranium Rye w/Alan Miller

In Aug 2011 Millbock Brewing Co was officially approved by the PLCB and they guys got underway brewing their first beer, Richard Cranium Rye. It was interesting to see Alan and Albert erect by hand their new brewery building and I was surprised to see several more beer releases, including White, Black, Golden Toos and Blue Bell Pale Ale to follow. After all these guys were only using a 6bbl homebuilt system AND they were taking on bottles at the same time. Very ambitious guys!
Millbock Brewing Co is located in Lingelstown, PA, just east of Harrisburg, so it was wonderful to have Alan Miller & Albert Debock join us on the show today to sample some Millbock Brewing Beers.
OF COURSE we had to sample Richard Cranium Rye. Not only is this their first licensed beer, but it comes with a name we couldn’t resist. I’ll pause here while you think about the name…..did you get it yet?….How about now? Well while you’re thinking about it we were sampling it.
Richard Cranium Rye has flavors of citrus and Belgian yeast…and of course lots of Rye. Although with that said, the Rye can be subtle after a few sips. Richard Cranium Rye is 6.5% ABV and it has plenty of body & hop flavor. It was also a lot of fun sampling the new Blue Bell Pale Ale. This is a great 5% ABV easy-drinking hoppy American Pale Ale, and a really enjoyable beer. Be sure to check out all of Millbock Brewing Co’s beers for yourself. The brewery may be small, but the flavor in their beer is big.
Thank you to Alan Miller & Albert Debock from Millbock Brewing Co
, Nancy, John, & Joe for yet another fun Friday.
