Wachusett Brewing Adding Quinn’s Amber Ale

This morning, I have a new can coming soon from Wachusett Brewing in Westminster, Massachusetts. This is Quinn’s Amber Ale, and it will be an amber ale that will hit a sessionable 4.8%-AbV. This is the 12-oz cans, and stay tuned for release details.

Today, beer is for everyone, whether you’re in the mood to drink it out of a snifter or straight from the can. We like that.

Wachusett Brewing Company was founded by three Massachusetts college students obsessed with the brewing culture and an appreciation for craft beer during their adventures of biking, canoeing, and hiking around New England. Armed with a “we can do this” attitude, the three cast off from their careers in engineering and biology to pursue their passion to make great beer.

They started with home brewing on the LaFortune family farm in Westminster in the shadow of Wachusett Mountain. After draining the farm’s well of water on multiple occasions, they were promptly asked to leave and forced to find a new home.

With a custom built three-vessel brewhouse, they found their new home just down the road. It was the perfect backdrop to embody the heart and soul of the three founders. It remains our location to this day.
For the first years, the founders worked around the clock, did their own bottling during the evening with the help of community volunteers, and delivered fresh beer in an old truck.


Today, Wachusett Brewing Company remains a local sanctuary of handcrafted and award-winning ales and lagers. Its roots remain deep in outdoor adventures with a focus on community and quality.

Wachusett Brewing Company, founded in 1994 by three Worcester Polytechnic Institute graduates, is a Massachusetts brewery known for its easy-drinking and accessible beers, such as its popular Blueberry Ale. The brewery is located in Westminster, MA, and operates taproom and entertainment venues called the Brew Yards in Westminster and the Worcester Public Market. In January 2024, Finestkind Brewing, the parent company of Smuttynose, acquired Wachusett Brewing, but the brewery’s taproom businesses and co-packing operations are expected to continue. 

History and founding
Founded in 1994 by Ned LaFortune, Peter Quinn, and Kevin Buckler, who were friends from WPI.
Started on LaFortune’s family farm and later moved to its current Westminster location.
The brewery’s logo is a sketch of the barn on the family farm, symbolizing its values of being local and passionate.

Known for its iconic Blueberry Ale, along with other beers like Larry Double IPA and Wally New England IPA.
Has a reputation for making easy-drinking and accessible craft beers.
Maintains a “fun, simple, and a little bit country” philosophy, as indicated by its logo and tagline, “Catch a Good Time”.
Has a co-packing agreement with other brands like Montauk Brewing.
