Vermont Woman Charged With Selling 5 Cases of Heady Topper On-Line

In this case, Goggins said it was the maker of Heady Topper, The Alchemist brewery, that tipped off the Department. Investigators then found the Craigslist post, contacted the seller, and met for the exchange.

Kimmich was just finding out about Hoffman’s citation when she spoke with the Free Press Wednesday morning.

“I just feel really bad about this,” she said.

Kimmich said she believes Hoffman made a bad choice.

“There are worse things that she could have done,” Kimmich said.

Kimmich said she’s concerend about illegal sales because buyers may be paying more for a lower-quality product. She said buyers could be paying $20 for a beer that hasn’t been properly taken care of or refrigerated.

Kimmich said Heady Topper fans have been watching the black market themselves and have alerted the company of illegal sales pitches.

“Our consumers are really policing the situation. They really are,” she said.
