Upland Brewing Company Seeks Public Help in Creating the First Official Beer of Indiana University Athletics

BLOOMINGTON, IN  (November 11, 2022) – Upland Brewing Company, a craft brewer with brewery, brewpub and tap house locations throughout Indiana, announces it is looking for public input from the community to decide the name, design and taste elements for the first-ever Indiana University Athletics branded beer. The new Upland Brewing Company beer will be released in 2023.

“To have the first official IU Athletics beer be produced by Upland Brewing Company is very meaningful,” said Eddie DeSalle, President of Upland Brewing Company. “As soon as we learned about the opportunity, we knew we wanted feedback from outside the company. With our Bloomington roots, Upland Brewing Company loves IU sports, but so do countless others. That’s why we’re reaching out and asking for feedback: so fans have a hand in making decisions about what this special brew will look and taste like.”

Anyone aged 21 and older can take a survey that offers the opportunity to provide input on beer name ideas, preferred flavor profiles, and beer can imagery and design elements. All surveys must be completed by the end of November. A secondary survey, which allows people to select their favorite beer name and can design based on the initial survey results, will go out in December. The final beer will be unveiled in early 2023.

The making of the official beer of IU Athletics comes after Upland Brewing Company became the official craft beer sponsor for the organization starting with the  2022 – 2023 season. As part of the three-year agreement, Upland Brewing Company will also host official IU Athletics watch parties for home and away games of all sports at brewpub locations, and utilize advertising opportunities during basketball, baseball and football games. Upland Brewing Company will also have the opportunity to be featured on IU Athletics’ social media and digital platforms, as well as on the IU Radio Network.
