Through it all, Magee freely acknowledges his own knack for digression, but his frequent asides are so interwoven into the fabric of the narrative that you’d probably never even notice if he didn’t call your attention to it. It’s more like he’s telling you his story over a pint, with purposeful pauses thrown in to allow himself and his audience a chance to take a sip of their beer.
