Saucy Brew Works Opens Northeast Ohio Brewery Built to Deliver Undeniable Quality

“We’ve seen many entries into the marketplace – in Northeast Ohio and around the state. If you’re going to rise to the top, consistent quality is essential,” says Eric Anderson, Brew Master and Co-owner. “We invested in the best technology available to deliver the best possible end product. Our system is completely stainless steel, even the draft lines, which is a first in our market. We haven’t cut any corners, so the result is always clean, great tasting beer.

“The equipment and brewery design have been meticulously engineered,” continues Anderson. “We know we are giving ourselves a competitive edge by starting out with equipment that others purchase down the road. All of that said, the setup doesn’t make the brewer’s job easier, but it makes the potential for the beer to be exceptional.”

Eric Anderson’s background is another critical part of the equation. He graduated from the Master Brewer Program at the Siebel Institute of Technology. He’s traveled far and wide to learn the craft. In recent years, he spent time at Tremont Tap House and Butcher and the Brewer, both Cleveland-area favorites. Saucy Brew Works is Anderson’s first foray on his own to brew the beer he loves his way.

Saucy Brew Works currently has eight beers on tap: Kölsch style ale, Bavarian style Hefeweizen, fruit ale, nitro oatmeal stout, nitro white stout, American IPA, Belgian style blonde ale, and a hoppy steam beer. Three additional beers will be introduced during the summer into early fall. The brewery’s distributor, Sixth City Distribution, already has several of Saucy’s selections on-tap at restaurants across Northeast and Northwest Ohio.

“We can reach a capacity of 15,000+ barrels per year, so the goal is to continue to scale and distribute in our immediate geography,” says Brent Zimmerman, CEO and Co-owner. “We plan to start canning later this summer. Our onsite high-speed canning line produces 200 cans per minute. Expect to see Saucy in more restaurants, bars and on store shelves very soon. We plan to move statewide in 2018.”

nother unique offering at Saucy Brew Works: the pizza. The lineup of beers is complemented by New Haven-style “apizza,” a Neapolitan-style pizza common around New Haven, Connecticut. The menu features 13 house pies and the ability to build your own. The brewpub menu also offers a variety of salads and appetizers.
