Pisgah Brewing's 8th Annual Stout Hog Day – Feb 1st, 2015

Pisgah Brewing Company started their own holiday in 2008 when they decided to

add a beer connoisseur’s twist to the nationally recognized holiday surrounding

Punxsutawney Phil and his shadow, Groundhog Day.  As is the tradition in the

winter, beer lovers unite over the darkest and heaviest of craft brews as the

temperatures drop, so the Pisgah brewers developed their own reason to

celebrate with a glass full of stout, Stout Hog Day.  Now embarking upon their 10-

year Anniversary in 2015, Pisgah Brewing will celebrate their self-acclaimed

holiday on Sunday, February 1st.

The 8th Annual Stout Hog Day will kick off at 12pm, and will feature a taproom

full of stouts and darks with some of Pisgah’s finest darker brews as well as a

special collection of local and sought after stouts.   17 of the Pisgah taps will turn

into stouts or darker brews, 7 of which will be Pisgah’s own recipes. Included in

the mix of Pisgah darks will be the GABF gold medal winning Chocolatized (only

available keg in existence at this time) as well as their first of the 10-Year

Anniversary releases, Cosmos.  In addition to the draft spectacular, Pisgah plans

to release the 10-Year Anniversary edition of Cosmos in bottle conditioned 750ml

bottles when the doors open for Stout Hog Day at noon in limited supply.

A new tradition was born in 2014 as the staff of Pisgah Brewing decided to add a

fulfilling twist to the day by starting off with the Brewer’s Breakfast, a full early

afternoon of free pancakes for all (while supplies last) prepared by the brewers

and staff themselves for their loyal fans.  As was the case at last year’s event,

D.O.G.S. food truck will be on-site preparing breakfast additions for purchase to

go along with the free pancakes. Music is always in the recipe at Pisgah Brewing,

so the Stout Hog Day house-band

throughout the afternoon.
