Pelican Brewing Adding a 6th Location In Yachats, Oregon
Pelican Brewing is expanding into Yachats, Oregon, marking a major coastal growth milestone for the iconic brewery. This new location strengthens Pelican’s presence along the Oregon Coast and brings a beloved craft beer brand into one of the state’s most scenic small towns.
Pelican Brewing Company, one of the most recognizable names on the Oregon Coast—is officially expanding into Yachats, Oregon, adding a sixth location to its growing lineup of coastal brewpubs. The brewery has purchased the former Whale’s Tail Diner, a building with more than four decades of local history as LeRoy’s Blue Whale, and will transform the space into a new Pelican restaurant and taproom.
This expansion reflects Pelican’s long‑term commitment to investing in Oregon’s coastal communities. According to Pelican president and co‑founder Mary Jones, the team is “delighted to expand our footprint and bring the Pelican experience to more of our coastal neighbors,” emphasizing the brewery’s mission to create gathering spaces that celebrate the spirit of the Pacific Northwest.
A New Chapter for a Beloved Coastal Town
Yachats, often called the “gem of the Oregon Coast” has a population of around 1,000 and a strong tradition of supporting local food and beverage makers. Pelican’s arrival brings new energy to the town’s dining scene and joins WildCraft Cider & Pantry as one of the area’s key craft beverage destinations.
The new Pelican location will not include brewing operations; instead, it will operate as a restaurant and taproom, offering Pelican’s award‑winning beers, zero‑alcohol Sparkle Hops, and craft sodas. Renovations are underway to bring Pelican’s signature coastal‑modern charm to the historic building.
Opening Timeline and Pelican’s Growing Coastal Presence
Pelican Brewing plans to open the Yachats location in the second half of 2026, aligning with the brewery’s 30th anniversary year. The company already operates brewpubs in Pacific City, Cannon Beach, Siletz Bay, a production facility and taproom in Tillamook, and a taproom in Rockaway Beach, making Yachats the latest addition to a strong coastal network.
As renovation plans finalize, Pelican will release more details on menus, design updates, and opening celebrations.
