Oskar Blues Adding Home Skillet Black IPA

This morning I have your first peek at a new can coming soon from Oskar Blues Brewery in Longmont, CO, Brevard, NC and Austin, TX. This is Home Skillet and it will be a black IPA with cacao flowers that hits 6.4%-AbV. This is the 16oz can and stay tuned for late Feb 2021 release details and details on the Heart J.B. symbol on the can. Home Skillet Black IPA Coming Soon to Longmont & Boulder Taprooms

Longmont, CO  (February 18, 2021) To honor Jason Buehler, a great brewer and an even greater man, Oskar Blues Brewery (OB) will release Home Skillet Black IPA at Boulder and Longmont taprooms on February 27. Home Skillet will be available on draft and in 4-packs of 16 oz. cans while supplies last. All proceeds will support the family of Jason Buehler – www.gofundme.com/f/jason-buehler.

Jason Buehler spent three years driving the innovative brewing program at OB from the Lyons, CO, pilot brewery. With his infectious passion for brewing, Jason influenced everything at the brewery – beer, of course, but also the entire OB Family. He constantly elevated the fun factor while tirelessly crafting flavorful beer. His legacy at OB included the cult favorite seasonal release, Death by Coconut, originally brewed with friends at Shamrock Brewing. OB will always remember Jason’s honest enthusiasm for crafting beer, and his enduring contributions to the craft beer community.

To pay tribute to Jason, the OB team and head brewer Juice Drapeau dusted off one of his classic recipes, Home Skillet Black IPA. This malty, hoppy mindjob of a beer was crafted using Jason’s favorite brewing methods for the style. The malt bill includes 2Row and 120L Crystal donated by Proximity Malt, along with Dehusked Carafa II and Sinamar. Amarillo and Mosaic hops shine in the whirlpool and during dry hopping. For this special tribute brew, a secret ingredient was added at the final step of dry hopping – dried cacao flowers. Through his travels and work with breweries in Mexico, Jason came to appreciate the unique ingredients available in the area and brilliantly incorporated them into many of his recipes.

The result is an expertly balanced Black IPA with sweet aromas and flavors of graham cracker, chocolate, brown sugar, molasses, maple syrup and toffee mixing perfectly with floral, citrus and tropical hop flavors.
