New Belgium’s Peter Bouckaert Helping Launch New Purpose Brewing & Cellars

Fort Collins, CO , Thu, May 18, 2017 – 1933 Brewing owners, Zach & Laura Wilson, announce the launching of a new brewery with Peter Bouckaert of New Belgium Brewing. Purpose Brewing and Cellars will be the new name.
When asked about their new name and concept to brewing beer, the team commented, “We believe that everything in life has a purpose. Our purpose is to use a thoughtful, artistic, collaborative and authentic approach to craft one-of- a-kind coffees and beers. Our mission at Purpose Brewing and Cellars is to inspire creativity, promote craftsmanship, and support our local community.”
“Our intention is to create an entirely new experience for beer lovers,” says Laura Wilson. Zach adds, “We want everyone to experience and learn about the craft and beauty of brewing the minute they step into Purpose Brewing and Cellars.”
Peter Bouckaert has been the head brewmaster at New Belgium Brewing for the past 21 years. Peter’s knowledge, experience, and ingenuity combined with Zach’s creativity and purpose-driven craftsmanship are sure to be the perfect recipe for some out of this world brews. The eventual addition of Laura’s wood-fired coffee will complete the verb “brewing” and take their craft in another direction.
“Getting involved in Purpose Brewing and Cellars makes me really enthusiastic. The creative collaborative art of the brews that will be crafted will enhance the Fort Collins’ and Colorado’s beer mecca further!” says Peter.
Purpose Brewing and Cellars plans to open this Summer 2017, in the same previous location of 1933 Brewing Company, at 4025 S. Mason St., Fort Collins, Colorado. They plan to debut with a few select limited production beers and will also offer tastings from their new cellar room.

New Belgium Brewing’s Brewmaster, Peter Bouckaert , is launching a side project in the form of Purpose Brewing and Cellars, an aspiring farm brewery brewing coffee and beer and located in Fort Collins, CO. Bouckaert will be remain on for the remainder of the year at New Belgium while lending his talents to Purpose. For Bouckaert, who once owned his own small scale brewery in Belgium, the move is a return to his roots.
“I got to work for 21 years in the best company in the US, since Google does not create beer,” said Bouckaert. “I got to work with people that realize daily their love and passion. I said from the get go that I wanted to stay as long as I can learn. Now I want to learn new things. It will be hard to leave all this passion but change is good for learning.”
There is no formal timeline as Peter transitions into his new role. New Belgium Co-Founder and Executive Chair of the Board, Kim Jordan, hired Bouckaert 21 years ago after seeking him out at the Craft Brewer’s Conference in 1996. He has been instrumental in creating New Belgium’s wood and sour beer programs.
“Creative people like new challenges,” said Kim Jordan. “He’s got a gig on the side and will be transitioning over the balance of the year. We wish him well; I have loved our time together. Peter and I have had lots of fun and done some beautiful work. Both sides start this transition with the utmost respect and appreciation for all that we’ve accomplished together.”
