New Belgium Strong Blonde Joins the Belgian Collection

I’ll admit I was a little worried about the artwork when I first saw the name of this beer, but I’m excited to say New Belgium Strong Blonde looks great. The elegant label, classic Belgian-inspired artwork and gold detailing give this new beer a distinctly traditional appearance that fits perfectly with the New Belgium Belgian Collection.

Coming from New Belgium Brewing, with brewing operations in Fort Collins, Colorado, and Asheville, North Carolina, Strong Blonde is a new Belgian-style ale that takes the brewery back toward the Belgian brewing traditions that helped establish its reputation in American craft beer.

According to the label, New Belgium Strong Blonde is described as a “bright, effervescent, and subtly fruity Belgian-style ale with a crisp, clean finish.” That description immediately sets expectations for a beer built around lively carbonation, Belgian yeast character, delicate fruit notes and a refreshing finish rather than a heavy or overly sweet profile.

At 7.5% ABV, Strong Blonde is definitely stronger than the average blonde ale, putting it squarely into the Belgian-style strong blonde ale category. The 7.5% alcohol level should provide some additional warmth and depth while still allowing the bright, fruity character of the beer to remain front and center.

The label also recommends serving New Belgium Strong Blonde at 45–50°F, a temperature range that should allow the beer’s aroma, carbonation and Belgian yeast character to open up without becoming overly cold and muted.

Packaging is another notable part of this release. New Belgium Strong Blonde will arrive in 12-ounce bottles, giving the beer a classic presentation that seems particularly appropriate for a Belgian-style ale. The bottle format also fits nicely with the traditional appearance of the Belgian Collection artwork.

The centerpiece of the label is an illustration of Lady Justice, surrounded by ornate gold decoration beneath the familiar New Belgium branding. The overall presentation is considerably more traditional than some of the brewery’s more colorful modern packaging, and I think it works extremely well for this particular beer.

For fans of Belgian-style beers, strong blonde ales, New Belgium Brewing and classic craft beer, Strong Blonde is definitely one to watch. The combination of a 7.5% ABV profile, bright and subtly fruity character, crisp finish and Belgian-inspired presentation makes this an especially interesting addition to the brewery’s 2026 lineup.

For now, New Belgium Strong Blonde is still waiting on complete release information, including availability and tasting notes. Stay tuned to MyBeerBuzz.com as more details become available.

New Belgium Brewing is one of the most recognizable names in American craft beer, with a brewing history that stretches back to 1991 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Founded by Kim Jordan, the brewery developed a reputation for combining Belgian brewing inspiration with American creativity, helping make Belgian-style ales, sour beers and innovative craft beer more accessible to American drinkers. New Belgium later expanded its brewing footprint to Asheville, North Carolina, giving the brewery an important presence on the East Coast as well as its longtime Colorado home.

The brewery’s Belgian-inspired roots remain an important part of its identity. New Belgium has produced everything from classic Belgian-style ales to complex sour beers and barrel-aged specialties, with beers such as La Folie helping establish its reputation for pushing beyond conventional American brewing styles. Its extensive sour program became particularly notable for beers aged in wood, including a wide range of experimental and barrel-aged releases.

That Belgian influence is again becoming particularly visible through the brewery’s Belgian Collection. Recent releases and returning beers have included Cherry Dubbel and Abbey, while other Belgian-inspired releases have expanded the collection with different interpretations of traditional European beer styles. MyBeerBuzz recently reported that Cherry Dubbel and Abbey were being developed as part of the refreshed Belgian Collection, showing New Belgium’s continued interest in revisiting the brewing traditions that helped define its early years.

New Belgium has also recently explored Belgian brewing traditions through releases such as Beertje Belgian-Style Spiced Ale and the Belgian Reserve Winter Quadrupel, demonstrating the range of flavors and strengths possible within Belgian-inspired brewing. The Winter Quadrupel, for example, reaches 9.7% ABV and showcases a richer, darker interpretation of the Belgian ale tradition.

Beyond Belgian-style ales, New Belgium remains widely associated with Fat Tire, Voodoo Ranger, seasonal beers, sour ales and a continually expanding portfolio of innovative craft beverages. The brewery’s willingness to move between traditional brewing, experimental releases and modern beer trends has helped keep New Belgium relevant for multiple generations of craft beer drinkers. For Strong Blonde, that history makes the new 7.5% Belgian-style ale especially interesting. It represents another opportunity for New Belgium to connect its modern brewing operation with the Belgian-inspired traditions that helped launch the brewery more than three decades ago.
