Mybeerbuzz.com Highlights The Bruery 2 Turtle Doves 2021 (Review)

I know what you’re thinking.  If we’re talking about 2 Turtle Doves from The Bruery, we’re talking about a beer that was released in 2009 and meant to be enjoyed 10-years later as part of the full 12 Days of Christmas series tasting. While that is all true, and it seems like it wasn’t all that long ago that I tasted the full series, but this is something new.

The Bruery just announced that this classic holiday beer will now return for 2021 across their national distribution chain beginning on 10/14. As if that’s not fun enough, another beer in the series (barrel-aged Partridge In a Pear Tree) will be released in Nov 2021 as part of the Reserve Society.

For 2021, 2 Turtle Doves will have a bit of a different recipe. The original recipe used cocoa nibs and toasted pecans, however for 2021 the recipe includes ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg, clove and bitter orange peel. The beer will be packaged in 750ml bottles and check out the delivery options as well.

Of course I’m anxious to sample the new version, so off we go…image

The Bruery 2 Turtle Doves 2021

ABV:  10.6%
Style:  Dark Belgian Ale
Packaging:  750ml Bottles
Appearance:  Deep Ruby Brown
Aroma:   Citrus and subtle cinnamon
Mouthfeel:   Robust
Taste:   Mild warming spices, bitter orange rind and cinnamon
Overall:  I was surprised at how 2 Turtle Doves 2021 felt both familiar and also new and unique. The beer has layers and layers of complexity with the spices nicely balanced by the bitter orange rind. The spices do have a warming quality that I liked and at 10.6%-AbV, the warming continues but in a really subtle way. Overall I really enjoyed how satisfying and complex this beer is and it will definitely make for a perfect holiday sipper.

The Bruery 2 Turtle Doves 2021 is available now in 750ml bottles across The Bruery’s full distribution, so get out there and try it for yourself. I’m also hoping to get a chance to try this against the original version (if anyone managed to save one). When you do try this beer, be sure to let us know what YOU think.
