It’s always exciting to get an overnight delivery coming from Samuel Adams….and when that package reminds me to “Keep it Cold” and “Drink It Now” who am I to disobey.

Of course this can only mean one thing, the return of Samuel Adams Rebel Raw.  This is the 3rd batch of this high-AbV and high-IBU beer, and I’m excited to report that they have added distribution to more cities (the list is here).

Rebel Raw has a 35-day shelf life and the beer will remain at 10%-AbV and 100 IBU.  This batch uses 7-pounds of hops per barrel of Polaris, Galaxy, Amarillo, Zeus, Centennial, Cascade & Simcoe hops and the beer will be distributed in 16oz cans and 4-packs.

The recipe remains the same, so my previous review still holds very true.  In truth if you just repeat the words “hoppy”, “dank” and “wow” over and over again, you’d have a pretty good review.  Rebel Raw remains loaded with aromas that are hoppy, floral, fruity and herbal, and tasting notes that hit dank flavor descriptors  like earthy, grapefruity, resinous, piney and citrusy.  It finishes with a resinous and boozy set of flavors and at 10%-AbV, this one will sneak up on you (especially in a 16oz can).
