Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights New Belgium Wild Nectar Hard Juice

You never know what sort of beverage is arriving when a box from New Belgium Brewing rolls into mybeerbuzz headquarters…but one things for sure…you know it will be tasty. Today that box doesn’t contain beer, but instead it has a new and innovative hard juice called Wild Nectar.

This new hard juice drink is made from real fruit, and in fact NB recommends you turn the can over to evenly distribute the pulp….”then pop the top and nectar up!”

If you’re not familiar, Wild Nectar is gluten-free, it has zero artificial ingredients, it has only 1 gram of sugar added, it uses 15% real juice and it comes in Strawberry Guava, Passionfruit Lime & Passionfruit Orange Mango flavors. All of the flavors hit 5%-AbV and all are packaged in 12oz slim cans

According to New Belgium, “Consumers are looking for more options in the hard beverage space, so we created an exciting new product in this new category that delivers a unique flavor experience,” said Jared Spagnola, Brand Manager at New Belgium Brewing.  “Wild Nectar is incredibly easy drinking without sacrificing on big, fresh fruit flavor.”

Of course I’m anxious to give it a try so off we go…rather than doing the traditional beer review, I thought I’d talk about the hard juice without focusing on the flavors, but I should mention up front that these drinks are loaded with juice, they are lightly carbonated and just slightly sweet. With that said, you should be aware that these hard juice drinks are flavor and fruit-forward and have way more than a hint of fruit like many competing FMB’s and Seltzers. The mouthfeel of Wild Nectar is light and refreshing and at 5%-AbV they are really drinkable and enjoyable…especially if you use the cool swirly straw NB included in the box.

If you’re concerned about the pulp, I think you’ll find that it is subtle and doesn’t dominate the textures of the drink and the colors make for an enticing sip and enjoyable drink. I liked the Strawberry Guava flavor best, but the other two Passionfruit-based drinks are a close and enjoyable second place. Overall I really found New Belgium Wild Guava to be unique and really drinkable and I can’t wait to sip one on the beach.
