Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Harpoon Brewery Sticky Bun Stout (Review)

If you live in the northeast like I do (and like Harpoon does), then you’ll know that stout-season is in full swing; and while I like a good dry stout or imperial stout, I’ve really taken a liking to pastry-style stouts.

With that in mind, I was happy to see a new stout arriving at mybeerbuzz headquarters from Harpoon Brewery in Boston, MA. This Limited Edition beer is called Sticky Bun Stout and it is a stout brewed with natural flavors as well as well as real sticky buns from Flour Bakery + Café in Boston. If that’s not enough fun, a portion of the proceeds from this beer will benefit Camp Harbor View (also in Boston) and the Flour co-owner and James Beard award-winning pastry chef, Joanne Chang also beat Bobby Flay on an episode of his TV show with this very sticky bun recipe.

If you’d like, you too can also have these sticky buns (ready-to-bake) shipped to your home to pair with the beer.  Naturally I can’t wait to dig in, so off we go…

Made in collaboration with Flour Bakery + Café, Sticky Bun Stout is made with real Sticky Sticky Buns from Flour and features notes of toasted pecans, caramel, brown sugar, and cinnamon. A portion of proceeds will be donated to Camp Harbor View who works with more than 1,000 young Bostonians and their families each year to offer a one-of-a-kind summer camp for students in grades 6-8, year-round leadership development for students in grades 9-12 and comprehensive family services, including college and career planning, scholarships, clinical support and resource coordination — all at no cost to families.

Overall:  Harpoon Sticky Bun Stout has a really pleasing mix of flavors and aromas. I really liked the sticky bun flavors of caramel, nuts, toffee, sweet brown sugar with the mild cinnamon finish; and of course the mouthfeel is robust and satisfying. Overall this stout has a lot of good things going on and I found it to be really enjoyable, flavorful & drinkable.
