Mikkeller Malmö:

Mikkeller is expanding its presence in Malmö, Sweden, with plans to open its first permanent Mikkeller bar in the city this winter. The new Mikkeller Bar Malmö will occupy approximately 400 square metres across two floors and add a year-round destination for craft beer, food, music and social gatherings in the heart of central Malmö. The venue will feature 20 beer taps, darts, DJ nights and a large outdoor terrace.

The new Mikkeller Malmö bar builds on a relationship with the city that began in 2018, when Mikkeller opened Moriskans Trädgård in Malmö’s Folkets Park. That seasonal beer garden has become an established summer destination, and the new permanent bar will allow Mikkeller to maintain a year-round presence in Malmö. The new location will also be operated by the local team behind Moriskans Trädgård and Ramen to Bíiru in Malmö.

Located on Baltzarsgatan in the former BrewDog premises, Mikkeller Bar Malmö will combine the character of its 1967 building with Scandinavian design influences and Mikkeller’s distinctive visual style. The two-floor venue will include a more intimate downstairs space with its own bar, live music capabilities, big-screen sports and private-event space. Mikkeller says additional information about the food concept and opening plans will be announced later.

Here is the complete announcement from Mikkeller about its new permanent Mikkeller Bar Malmö.

This winter, Mikkeller will open its first permanent bar in the heart of central Malmö. Spread across 400 square metres over two floors, with a generous outdoor terrace, the new venue will be a social and contemporary beer house featuring 20 beer taps, darts and DJ nights. A lively gathering place for beer, food and good company – from lunch until late, seven days a week, all year round.

Mikkeller has been part of Malmö since 2018, when the Moriskans Trädgård beer garden opened in Folkets Park. Since then, it has become one of Malmö’s go-to summer hangouts. Now, Mikkeller is taking the next step in the city with a permanent bar, run by the same local team behind Moriskans Trädgård and Ramen to Bíiru in Möllevången and Malmö Saluhall.

“I love Malmö. Moriskan has been one of our most visited locations for several years, but of course it closes when summer is over. Now we finally get to have a place in Malmö that stays open all year round,” says Mikkel Bjergsø, founder of Mikkeller.

The new bar will open on Baltzarsgatan, in the former BrewDog premises. The 1967 building has set the tone for the interior, where Swedish and Scandinavian design from the 1960s and 70s meets Mikkeller’s own visual universe. The aim has been to preserve the building’s original character while creating a space that feels contemporary yet completely at home within it. Downstairs, the atmosphere becomes more intimate, with its own bar and a smaller stage for live music, big-screen sports and private events.‍

“What we love about Moriskans Trädgård is the relaxed, social and continental atmosphere that comes to life there during the summer. It’s a place full of energy where different people naturally come together. We want to bring that feeling into the new bar and create the same warmth and energy,” says Johann Bjarnason, Mikkeller Malmö.

Mikkeller Bar Malmö is set to open this winter. More details, including the food concept and opening plans, will be announced at a later date.
