Local Beer Lover Picks Dock Street For PBW Collaborative Brew

PHILADELPHIA, PA – This February, “Win a Trip to Belgium” Raffle Winner Daniel Neuner , a 24-year-old home brewer and fine art photographer from Cherry Hill, New Jersey, and his favorite brewer, Justin Low, Head Brewer at Dock Street, will travel to Belgium’s Brouwerij Dilewyns in the city of Dendermonde and be on hand for the Philly Beer Week (PBW) 2014 Collaborative Brew. Low will be brewing with Anne Catherine Dilewyns, Belgium’s youngest brewer who has been named one of the three rising star female brewers in the world. The collaborative beer will be released on May 30.
“On behalf of the entire PBW family, I’m thrilled to congratulate Daniel and Justin, and we wish them the best as they venture overseas to craft what has come to be one of the most anticipated beers of all of Philly Beer Week,” says PBW Co-Founder Tom Peters. “We can’t wait to see what kind of exciting beer they will create together.”
This is the fourth annual Philly-Belgo collaboration and the second time that a brewery in the Vanberg & DeWulf import portfolio has been chosen to partner in the venture. In 2012, Vanberg & DeWulf helped orchestrate the first collaboration beer in the history of the Dupont Brewery.
“As Philadelphia has a very special place in our hearts and remains the first and most Belgian-centric beer city in the United States, we are delighted to be working with Tom and the PBW team again,” says Don Feinberg, Vanberg & DeWulf Co-Founder. “This is an exciting opportunity for Anne-Catherine and a ringing endorsement of her talent that she has been chosen as the Belgian brewer for PBW.”
As has become the tradition, details about the style of the beer will be closely guarded until its release at the official PBW kick-off event, Opening Tap.
Philly Beer Week 2014 will be held from Friday, May 30 until Sunday, June 8. PBW is a 10-day celebration of “America’s Best Beer-Drinking City,” and kicks off on the first Friday in June annually. Established in 2008, it’s the largest beer celebration of its kind in the United States, featuring hundreds of festivals, dinners, tours, pub crawls, tastings and meet-the-brewer nights throughout greater Philadelphia. PBW highlights the region’s diverse beer scene – its world-class breweries, neighborhood taverns, trend-setting restaurants and rich beer culture and history.
