TOKYO—Kirin Holdings Co., one of Japan’s biggest brewers, is in early discussions with bankers for a potential bid for Asia Pacific Breweries Ltd. in a move that could intensify the battle for control of the Singapore maker of Tiger beer, people familiar with the matter said Monday.
