Kern River Brewing Affected By Flooding

Severe weather and flooding are impacting Kernville this weekend, and as much as we would love to hang out with you all, we want to urge you to take this seriously and be safe.  We will be making Citra with Nectaron and Electric Puppy Machine available on our online store to ship directly to you as well as 4-packs of our classic Citra so you can mix and match. Of course, with the weather, there could be delays in shipping that are out of our control. Please be patient, we will get it all sorted out eventually. For those that ordered Citra as a will-call, please email us if you would like that shipped instead (we will be reaching out to you anyway on this matter). For those who are already in the area, we will be open as usual and providing shelter from the storm and sunshine in a glass. When the weather clears, it should be a beautiful spring with wildflowers and drought-busting flows in the rivers.  We will have plenty of time to celebrate with you in the coming weeks, so reschedule your trip if you can and we look forward to seeing you at the brewery soon.

So what’s with the name?

Well, it’s a long story that involves setting a climbing route, two motorcycle batteries, one surprised climber & an upset dog. If you’d like to learn more, you can stop by the pub sometime and ask Krebs, the legendary climber intimately familiar with the situation. We made this Imperial Stout with our friends at FiftyFifty Brewing and barrel-aged it in a mix of maple & bourbon barrels for 18 months. ABV 10.5%

Citra DIPA

This beer is all about the hops!

Citrus, Mango and Pineapple aromas abound; but make no mistake, there is no fruit here, just a serious dry-hop regimen of Citra and Amarillo hops. We put just enough malt backing to balance out the flavor, but Citra DIPA is as close as it gets to chewing on a hop vine. Enjoy this one fresh, at least while you can get your hands on it. ABV 8%

A new take on a classic

Why mess with a good thing you may ask? Well, why not? We took our award-winning Citra DIPA recipe and folded in a new hop from New Zealand formerly known as HORT 4337 and now named Nectaron. With its peach and guava notes, this hot new variety pairs perfectly with the fruit-forward characteristics of Citra. Enjoy this limited release while it lasts! ABV 8%
