Brewery Ommegang Raspberry Falls Lager Coming To Cans
Brewery Ommegang Raspberry Falls Lager
Brewery Ommegang is adding another fruit-inspired release to its growing Falls beer series, and this time raspberries are taking center stage. The new Raspberry Falls is an upcoming raspberry lager from the Cooperstown, New York brewery, bringing together a traditional lager base and a familiar berry flavor in a colorful new 12-ounce can design.
Raspberry Falls continues the brewery’s exploration of fruit-forward beers under the Falls name, and there is plenty to like about the direction of this release. Rather than going with another heavily fruited sour or an aggressively sweet fruit ale, Ommegang is taking the lager route, which should give Raspberry Falls a different character and potentially make it an approachable option for drinkers who enjoy fruit beer without wanting something overly heavy.
The new Raspberry Falls is listed at 6.0% ABV, putting it comfortably in the territory of a stronger craft lager while still keeping it within a reasonable range for a flavored seasonal or specialty beer. Raspberry is the featured addition, although the brewery has not yet shared detailed tasting notes, information about the raspberry ingredients, or a complete description of the brewing process.
That’s something worth watching as the release gets closer.
The packaging is already giving us a pretty good look at what Ommegang has planned. The Raspberry Falls artwork features a large waterfall flowing through a wooded mountain setting, with a cluster of bright red raspberries taking up much of the foreground. A golden circular background sits behind the waterfall, while the surrounding blue and burgundy diamond pattern gives the cans a distinctive appearance that should stand out on a retail shelf.
The central banner identifies the beer as a lager with raspberry, leaving little doubt about the direction of this release. The design also carries the Falls series identity forward, making it easy to recognize this as another entry in the brewery’s fruit-focused lineup.
A new raspberry lager.
Raspberry is an interesting choice for a lager because it can bring a combination of fruit aroma, gentle sweetness, and tart berry character without necessarily taking over the entire beer. The real question will be how Ommegang balances the raspberry against the underlying lager, particularly at 6.0% ABV. A clean malt profile and restrained fruit character could make this a pretty appealing combination.
Brewery Ommegang has built a reputation around Belgian-inspired brewing, distinctive specialty releases, and beers that don’t always follow the usual American craft beer formula. Its Cooperstown operation has produced everything from Belgian-style ales to barrel-aged specialties, and the brewery has continued to explore different directions as the craft beer market changes.
Raspberry Falls gives the brewery another opportunity to reach drinkers looking for something a little different, especially those who enjoy fruit-flavored beers but aren’t necessarily looking for a sour ale.
The new beer will be packaged in 12-ounce cans, with the label confirming its 6.0% alcohol by volume and raspberry lager description. At this point, specific distribution information, an official release date, and pricing have not been announced, so we’ll have to wait for Ommegang to provide those details.
For now, Raspberry Falls is another interesting addition to the brewery’s lineup, and I’m looking forward to seeing how this raspberry lager turns out once it starts showing up in cans.
Stay tuned for more details.
One other thing that makes this release interesting is the timing of Ommegang’s continued experimentation with different beer styles and flavor combinations. The brewery has traditionally been associated with Belgian-style ales, but its newer releases show that the Cooperstown operation isn’t limiting itself to that familiar territory. Fruit beers, specialty lagers, IPAs, and other modern craft beer styles give the brewery plenty of room to reach different audiences.
Raspberry Falls also has the advantage of a recognizable flavor profile. Raspberry is a fruit that works across several beer categories, from tart wheat beers and kettle sours to darker specialty releases, but using it in a lager gives Ommegang another way to approach the ingredient. Whether the finished beer leans toward a crisp, lightly fruity lager or a more pronounced raspberry-forward experience remains to be seen.
The 12-ounce cans should also make Raspberry Falls an easy addition to mixed craft beer purchases, and the attractive artwork gives this release a recognizable identity within the Falls series. I’ll be watching for the first distribution information and any additional details from the brewery.
For now, this is one more new Brewery Ommegang beer to keep on the radar.

About Brewery Ommegang
Brewery Ommegang is a craft brewery located in Cooperstown, New York, known for its Belgian-inspired beers, imaginative specialty releases, and distinctive approach to American craft brewing. Since opening in the late 1990s, Ommegang has developed a national following by bringing traditional Belgian brewing influences together with American creativity, producing beers that range from classic farmhouse ales and Belgian-style saisons to specialty stouts, IPAs, lagers, and fruit-forward seasonal releases.
The brewery was established by Don Feinberg and Wendy Littlefield, experienced beer importers who wanted to bring authentic Belgian brewing traditions to the United States. Working with Belgian brewing interests that included Duvel Moortgat, Affligem, and Scaldis, they developed a Belgian-style farmstead brewery on a former hop farm in the Susquehanna River Valley near Cooperstown. The location provided an appropriate setting for a brewery built around European brewing traditions, while also giving Ommegang room to develop its own identity in the expanding American craft beer market.
Brewery Ommegang officially opened in 1997, introducing beers that stood apart from many of the American craft offerings available at the time. Its early portfolio included Abbey Ale, a traditional Belgian-style dubbel, followed by Hennepin Farmhouse Saison, Rare Vos Amber Ale, and Witte Wheat Ale. These beers helped establish Ommegang as an important American producer of Belgian-inspired ales, with an emphasis on complex flavors, distinctive yeast character, and traditional brewing techniques.
One of the brewery’s most recognizable releases is Three Philosophers, a Belgian-style quadrupel that incorporates cherry beer into its recipe. The combination helped demonstrate Ommegang’s willingness to explore ingredients and brewing approaches that weren’t necessarily common in the American beer market. Other established releases, including Hennepin, Abbey Ale, and Witte, further strengthened the brewery’s reputation among drinkers looking for European-inspired craft beer.
Ownership changed in 2003 when Belgian brewing company Duvel Moortgat became the sole owner of Brewery Ommegang. The relationship provided additional resources and an international brewing connection while allowing the Cooperstown brewery to continue developing its own portfolio. Duvel Moortgat’s Belgian heritage also made the partnership a natural fit for a brewery that had always emphasized Belgian brewing traditions.
Over the years, Ommegang expanded its production capabilities and distribution, responding to growing interest in its beers. The brewery also became known for limited releases, barrel-aged beers, experimental recipes, and collaborations that allowed its brewing team to explore different styles and ingredients.
One of the most recognizable chapters in the brewery’s history came through its partnership with HBO’s Game of Thrones. Beginning in 2013, Ommegang introduced a series of beers inspired by the television series, creating specialty releases connected to the show’s characters, locations, and storylines. The partnership introduced the brewery to additional audiences and demonstrated how craft beer could connect with entertainment, popular culture, and collectible packaging.
Brewery Ommegang has also developed a reputation as a destination for beer enthusiasts visiting Cooperstown. Its property includes a Tap House, café, retail store, and outdoor gathering spaces, along with special events and live music. The brewery’s annual Belgium Comes to Cooperstown celebration has also helped connect American beer drinkers with Belgian brewing culture and the wider craft beer community.
Today, Brewery Ommegang continues to explore new directions while maintaining its Belgian-inspired roots. Its lineup includes traditional favorites alongside contemporary releases that cover a much wider range of craft beer styles. Newer beers featuring different fruit ingredients, hops, malt combinations, and brewing techniques show that the brewery remains interested in experimentation rather than relying exclusively on its established classics.
Releases such as Raspberry Falls demonstrate that approach. A 6.0% ABV raspberry lager represents a different direction from the Belgian-style ales that originally established the brewery, but it also reflects the creativity that has been part of Ommegang since its beginning.
From traditional Belgian-style ales and farmhouse saisons to modern IPAs, specialty lagers, collaborations, and experimental fruit beers, Brewery Ommegang remains an established name in American craft brewing.
