Gigantic Brewing Party Wave Tropical IPA Coming 11/21
Today, I bring you some exciting beer release news coming from Gigantic Brewing in Portland, Oregon:
Let’s Heat Up November With a Beach Party!
We’re bringing a little sunshine back to Portland—whether the weather likes it or not. Join us Friday, November 21st from 3pm–late at the brewery for the release of our newest beer: Party Wave Tropical IPA!
Party Wave Tropical IPA is a juicy, sunshine-soaked burst of tropical fruit flavor—loaded with notes of mango, tropical citrus, and sweet fruits, all riding smooth on a golden tide of Idaho 7, Citra, Strata, Krush, Simcoe, and Crystal hops. It’s basically your all-season vacation in a glass.
To celebrate, we’re turning the brewery into a full-on tropical escape:
808 Grinds is cooking up a special Huli Huli Chicken plate just for the party.
If you know, you know—and if you don’t, prepare yourself. Huli Huli Chicken is a Hawaiian classic: tender, flame-kissed chicken marinated in a sweet-savory mix of ginger, garlic, soy, pineapple, and brown sugar, then grilled until caramelized and ridiculously juicy. 808 Grinds rarely makes this dish, so this truly is a one-night-only treat you won’t want to miss.
A tropical DJ will be supplying the island vibes
We’ve got party favors (of course)
And a photo wall so you can fully commit to the moment

Lotería + Machetes + Beer = One Perfect Afternoon
Get ready for an afternoon of pure alegría, loud laughs, lucky breaks, and maybe a little friendly smack talk—we’re hosting Familia Lotería de San Diego, all the way from (yep!) San Diego, for a special round of Lotería at Gigantic Hawthorne!
If you’ve never played Lotería before, imagine Bingo… but WAY more fun, way more colorful, and with legendary icons like La Sirena, El Gallo, and La Luna calling the shots. Easy to learn, impossible not to get into, and wildly entertaining for all ages. We’re seriously lucky he’s making the trip up to host this!
And the cherry on top (or should we say the salsa on the machete)? Machetes PDX is in the kitchen for their Thurs–Sun 2-9pm Nov/Dec residency—serving their amazing Mexico City–style dishes. Their signature “machetes” are gigantic, sword-shaped quesadillas made with heirloom corn masa that’s tie-dye colored (think pink hibiscus swirl, green cilantro tint) and then pressed and grilled until crisp. Fillings are wild in the best way: braised skirt steak in morita & ancho, chipotle-tomato chicken, confit pork chicharrón prensado, huitlacoche and mushrooms, squash blossoms with queso fresco… even vegetarian options shine. Plus there are street-food sides and snacks, like shrimp ceviche on chicharrón, pozole verde, tinga cauliflower, and carne asada!
Bring the kids, bring the abuela, bring your competitive streak—this afternoon is going to be a blast.
