Ghostfish Brewing (Seattle’s 1st Gluten Free Craft Brewery) Hits $30k Kickstarter Goal

Slated to open soon in Seattle’s Sodo neighborhood, Ghostfish Brewing began a Kickstarter campaign in October with a goal of $30,000 to be funded. On November 13, they met their goal! The proceeds will primarily be used to fund a pilot brewing system, fermentation tanks, construction, and lab equipment. All of this will supplement their current 15-bbl brewhouse, and will facilitate the development of new gluten-free beer styles.
The three founders credit the overwhelming support within the community for their success. “We can’t really say enough about our genuine gratitude for the outpouring of support from craft beer drinkers,” said Brian Thiel, one of the three founders of Ghostfish. “Our goal is to elevate gluten-free brewing to the forefront of craft brewing innovation, and the brew lab funded by this Kickstarter campaign will be a tremendous aid in that quest,” said Jason Yerger, brewmaster.
Randy Schroeder, Ghostfish partner, has been busy building out the space for the brewery on 1stAvenue South, next to Aston Manor. While the brewery hasn’t opened its doors yet, construction is nearly complete, on target for opening early first-quarter of 2015. They’ll start with three flagship beers: Watchstander Stout, Vanishing Point Pale Ale, and Shrouded Summit Witbier. With their R&D lab, they’ll be able to develop recipes for rotating seasonals, taproom exclusives, and new permanent offerings. Soon you will be able to find Ghostfish beer at beer shops, specialty grocers, and select bars and restaurants in the Seattle/Tacoma area. In the coming months and years, they hope to expand down the West Coast and then nationally.
