Double Mountain Introduces Eleanor Golden Russet Estate Cider

Double Mountain Brewery & Cidery proudly announces the release of Eleanor, a Golden Russet Estate cider crafted exclusively from fruit grown at Swihart Orchards in Odell. At 8.2% ABV, this limited single-varietal release highlights both the evolution of the orchard and the cidery’s continued exploration of heritage apples.


Now in their fifth season, the Golden Russet trees have reached a new level of maturity, producing fruit with remarkable depth and intensity. A long, warm fall allowed the apples to hang on the tree longer than usual, concentrating sugars and amplifying flavor while softening acidity. The result is a cider that is both expressive and refined… layered, aromatic, and distinctly rooted in place.


Pouring a glowing golden hue, Eleanor opens with aromas of green apple, melon, and subtle tropical notes. On the palate, bright apple character meets honeydew sweetness and medium tannin, balanced by a gentle tartness. It finishes clean and crisp, with lingering citrus, orange, and pear.


This release marks an exciting step forward in Double Mountain’s estate cider program. As orchard yields grow, the cidery continues to expand its lineup of single-varietal ciders, offering a deeper look into the unique personalities of heritage fruit. Golden Russet, a historic American apple dating back to the 1800s, brings a naturally balanced profile of sweetness, acidity, and fragrance, making it an ideal candidate for this style of focused expression.

Pressed from local Golden Russet apples, this cider opens with aromas of ripe melon and wild berries that drift on warm afternoon air. Rustic tannins frame the fruit, leading to a crisp finish reminiscent of a bluebird autumn day beneath wide, amber skies.
