Dogfish Head Brewing Insanely-Hoppy “Post Boil IPA” Today

Today Sam and Assistant Brewmaster Mark were in the Rehoboth brewhouse brewing up a beer called ‘Post Boil IPA’. Slated to go on tap at our Rehoboth brewpub Friday, May 27, this is the perfect brew to kick off Memorial Day weekend. 

Last year we brewed Hoo Lawd (the hoppiest commercial beer ever made) with a super-freaky hop variety called Alpha Beast. Alpha Beast hops have the highest level of Alpha Acids of any commercial hop.

For ‘Post Boil IPA’ we did some experimenting with Alpha Beast as the centerpiece. We steeped the hops like tea alongside some Simcoe hops post boil and we built a recipe where every single hop addition happens…you guessed it…post boil.

This beer picks up almost as much IBUs on the cold side, with dry-hopping after fermentation, as it does post boil on the hot side. What does that mean? This beer will be insanely hoppy without being overly bitter!

Clocking in at 7% ABV and 80 IBUs, come try it to kick your summer off the right way!
