Devils Backbone Brewing Company Brings National Title to the Virginia Heartland

Virginia’s Heartland • November 3, 2014 — Devils Backbone Brewing Company won Mid-Size Brewing
Company and Mid-Size Brewing Company Brewer of the Year at the 2014 Great American
Beer Festival, the largest brewing competition in the United States. This year’s recognition marks the
3rd consecutive national title for the brewery at the Festival. Devils Backbone successfully defended
their 2013 Small Brewing Company and Small Brewing Company Brewer of the Year and 2012 Small
Brewpub and Small Brewpub Brewer of the Year titles. In addition to the national title Devils
Backbone brought home four more medals to add to their collection.
Gold – Schwartz Bier (German-Style Schwartzbier)
Silver – Old Virginia Dark (American-Style Dark Lager)
Silver – Turbo Cougar (Bock)
Bronze – Alt Bier (German-Style Altbier).

built a state-of-the-art facility in the area, the brewers are exceptional and the management team is top

Since opening the Devils Backbone “Basecamp” Brewpub in 2008 at the base of Wintergreen
Mountain in Nelson County, followed by their Devils Backbone “Outpost” Production Facility in
2011 in Lexington, VA, the company has been known for their consistent quality and award-winning
beers. This recognition has propelled Devils Backbone into a leadership role within the craft beer
industry nationally. Their prestigious collection of both national and international awards is
impressive.
