DC Brau Halts Production Due To Boiler Failure

WASHINGTON, D.C. – On Wednesday August 8th, DC Brau Brewing Company’s production ground to a halt after their boiler suffered a "terminal failure." The craft brewery reported no further damage to the brewery or any of the beers currently in tank.

The loss will cause a short stoppage in production, however. The company expects a loss of nine to ten days of brewing while the new boiler is installed. According to the company, the lag in production will affect the city’s beer consumers around the last week in August and perhaps into the first week of September.

"Had we not been preemptive in ordering a new boiler about two months ago, we would be looking at a much more significant loss in production," DC Brau CEO Brandon Skall reported. He added that the new boiler is quite an upgrade over the current, decommissioned model.

Head Brewer and President Jeff Hancock said that in order to quickly re-coop the loss in production the DC brewing company will begin brewing three times a day through the weekend once the new boiler is up and running. This new brew schedule will also coincide with an expansion that effectively doubles the production size of the North East DC facility. "We understand that this might cause a temporary shortage in the market, but with this aggressive new brew schedule and expansion we’re planning to get more beer out to our accounts as soon as possible," said Skall.
