March 2, 2017, New York, NY – Craft beer fans worldwide can rejoice as their dream for a craft beer hotel has just had the green light. Scottish brewer, BrewDog today announced plans to build the world’s first crowdfunded craft beer hotel in Columbus, Ohio, where the company will open its first international brewery later this year.

The state-of-the-art hotel, dubbed The DogHouse, will boast a craft beer spa with beer-based treatments, a craft beer tap in every room serving the brewery’s flagship beer, Punk IPA, and an in-shower beer fridge so guests can sip whilst they shower.

Guests who stay in the luxury suite will also get to enjoy a hot tub filled with the brewer’s award-winning Punk IPA. The DogHouse will also serve deluxe three-course breakfasts, lunches and dinners, all infused and paired with artisanal craft beers, ensuring the beer experience lasts from dusk until dawn.

After a groundswell of demand from the brewer’s social media community, the brewer will fast-track the project through a crowdfunding program on Indiegogo, aiming to raise $75,000 in 30 days. With a track record of successful crowdfunding campaigns, BrewDog has broken global records with its Equity for Punks investment program – still open to US investors until Summer 2017.
“Beer geeks around the world have been crying out for a beer hotel since we first floated the idea on social media, so we’re going to kick-start the most ambitious project we’ve ever planned, all with the backing of our global community of beer fans,” commented BrewDog Cofounder and CEO, James Watt.

“From the hop oil face masks and malted barley massages – to the beer-infused breakfasts and built-in shower beer fridge – The DogHouse will be a mecca for those craft beer geeks seeking a vacation with a difference. Every single part of your stay at The DogHouse will be absolutely dominated by hops, malt and incredible beer. Forget Disneyland, this is the new happiest place on Earth”

The campaign will also fund a new sour brewing facility on site, allowing BrewDog to experiment with new beer flavors and brewing techniques. Patrons of The DogHouse will not only be able to trial these new beers fresh from the brewery, but view the oak foeders (used to age sour beers) from their bedrooms. Visitors will also be able to take advantage of private tours of BrewDog’s new US brewing facility when it opens later this year.

Backers of the Indiegogo campaign can bag themselves free nights at The DogHouse and also exclusively secure the first five releases from the sour beer facility. Those backers who give over $30,000 to the campaign will be rewarded with hosting an all night event, be it a craft-beer themed wedding, birthday or corporate event at The DogHouse.

Last month, the first BrewDog US bar, DogTap launched, introducing Columbus locals to BrewDog’s headliners and a range of carefully curated beers from local craft breweries.

BrewDog is aiming to open The DogHouse by the end of September 2018. Along with the aforementioned perks, backers will gain access to behind-the-scenes plans and designs as and when they are developed, alongside additional discounts and benefits.

Expansion into the US has been made possible by BrewDog’s innovative business model, Equity for Punks, which has amassed 55,000 shareholders over four rounds globally, and raised £40m through crowdfunding since 2009. BrewDog’s brand new, state-of-the-art 100,000 square foot brewery in Columbus, Ohio, which will be one of the most technologically-advanced and environmentally-friendly breweries in the world, will open in mid-2017, and is currently open to investment from the public via equityforpunksusa.com.

It’s been just over a week since the doors opened to our brand new taproom in the United States – and the number of people who have walked through those doors since has been nothing short of incredible. Our crew at DogTap Columbus are working all hours to ensure that everyone who visits has an amazing time, but today we are psyched to announce exactly how we intend to make that experience even better.

We are launching The DogHouse, Columbus – the world’s first craft beer hotel and sour brewery.

And you can help us make it happen by supporting us via Indiegogo

Yes, you may well have read about our recent attempts to build a BrewDog hotel near our Ellon brewery in Aberdeenshire (which we are still hopeful of getting over the line). But in the meantime we have partnered with the amazing guys at Indiegogo on a campaign that you can get involved with, to construct the world’s first crowdfunded craft beer hotel attached to a brand new BrewDog sour beer facility in Columbus – and we have awesome, money-can’t-buy perks for those who do!

Head to our page on Indiegogo for all of the details on The DogHouse Columbus, but in supporting our campaign you can rack up rewards from tours, tastings and t-shirts to free stays in the hotel, beery spa treatments and the chance to design your very own sour beer. And you can even take over the entire hotel and all fifty rooms for a night with breakfast and lunch included – so that’s your next office teambuilding day sorted!

We have already kicked off the design process for The DogHouse Columbus and the features of the hotel and rooms are being dialled in as we speak. We are going all out to make The DogHouse the best beer-oriented hotel in the world. Just cast your eyes over the following…

– Craft beer minibars curated by James and Martin
– Punk IPA on tap in your room
– Beer Spa treatments with bespoke hop oils
– Epic restaurant majoring in beer and food pairings
– Craft beer themed breakfasts, lunches and dinners
– En-suite shower beer fridges*
– Wake up to views of our sour beer foeders

* It will be our mission to ensure you are never more than an arm’s reach from a chilled Punk IPA

There are a few hotels where you can stay near to a brewery – but there are none where you can wake up inside a brewery. The DogHouse Columbus will greet you each morning with the aromas from our gently fermenting foeders even before you head down for breakfast. It will be a focal point for fans of craft beer and a must-stay for anybody making the pilgrimage to check out our adventures in Ohio. Anybody visiting from Columbus itself – why head back to your house when you can stay next to our brewhouse?

Check out our IndieGoGo page here and discover more about the perks and rewards you can gain, plus our plans for the project as a whole – but our number one plan is to make The DogHouse the best craft beer hotel in the world. As we’ll be pouring beer for guests from across the globe we welcome investment to help make The DogHouse happen wherever you happen to live. Whether you’re in the States planning a roadtrip or further afield, you can get involved and help us generate another 80 jobs for the local area (not to mention add another entry to your bucket list).

Stand by for more updates soon and let us know in the comments what would feature in your ideal beer-related hotel!
