Sometimes a beer release is about a new hop variety, an unusual brewing technique or a long-awaited seasonal favorite. And sometimes, the internet simply decides that a raccoon deserves a beer.

That is exactly what happened when Tree House Brewing Company in Massachusetts turned the viral sensation known as Jimothy into the star of a special beer can. The brewery’s playful tribute has quickly become one of the more unusual craft beer stories of the summer, combining viral internet culture, beer collecting and Tree House’s instantly recognizable can-art tradition.

The result is Jimothy, a special Tree House beer featuring an artistic geometric depiction of the famous raccoon. The can design has already generated plenty of excitement among craft beer fans and Jimothy followers, making this a release that reaches well beyond the traditional beer community.

Tree House Brewing Jimothy Beer Celebrates a Viral Raccoon

Tree House Brewing Company has created a special Jimothy beer can celebrating the Seattle raccoon that became an unexpected internet celebrity in July 2026. Jimothy captured the attention of millions after videos showing the unusually round raccoon running across a Seattle neighborhood went viral.

According to reports, Jimothy is believed to have short spine syndrome, a rare condition that contributes to his distinctive appearance. His unusual shape, energetic movements and unmistakable personality quickly turned him into one of the internet’s favorite animals.

Tree House Brewing saw an opportunity to turn that enthusiasm into craft beer art.

The brewery unveiled the Jimothy can in July, featuring an all-white design with a geometric illustration of the viral raccoon. The brewery confirmed that the cans were real and made available at its Massachusetts locations. The initial release was limited, adding another layer of collectibility for Tree House fans and Jimothy enthusiasts.

The beer appears to be Julius, Tree House Brewing’s flagship American IPA. Tree House describes Julius as its flagship IPA and recommends it as a starting point for newcomers to the brewery.

The Jimothy release also fits perfectly with Tree House’s history of using distinctive can artwork to commemorate cultural moments and special projects. Recent Tree House releases have demonstrated the brewery’s willingness to explore everything from highly creative beers to artwork that gives individual cans a personality of their own.

For beer collectors, the Tree House Jimothy can is particularly interesting because the beer itself is only part of the story. The artwork connects one of America’s most recognizable craft breweries with one of the summer’s biggest viral animal sensations.

Reports indicate the first Jimothy cans sold quickly at the Charlton location, with additional Massachusetts locations also offering the special packaging. The Boston Globe reported that Tree House founder and CEO Nate Lanier said the brewery planned another Jimothy-themed run, this time featuring a non-alcoholic seltzer.

That could make Jimothy more than a one-time novelty. It could become a small series celebrating an internet phenomenon that seemingly came out of nowhere.

For Tree House Brewing, Jimothy is another example of how beer can intersect with pop culture, social media and collectible packaging. For fans, it is a chance to grab a Tree House beer with a story attached to it—and perhaps one of the most recognizable raccoon faces of 2026.

In short, Jimothy has officially gone from viral raccoon to Tree House beer icon.

Tree House Brewing Company is an independent, brewer-owned craft brewery based in Charlton, Massachusetts, with a history that began in a small red barn in Brimfield in 2011. Founded by Nate Lanier, Damien Goudreau, Dean Rohan and Jonathan Weisbach, Tree House grew from small-scale homebrewing into one of the most recognized names in American craft beer. The brewery’s reputation was built largely around exceptionally fresh, intensely aromatic American-style IPAs, including its flagship Julius IPA, as well as Haze and Green. Tree House’s official website identifies Julius as its flagship IPA and describes its lineup as extending beyond beer into coffee, spirits, seltzer and other house-made products.

Tree House Brewing has expanded substantially while maintaining its independent identity and direct-to-consumer business model. Its primary Charlton location houses brewing operations along with the brewery’s coffee roastery and distillery. Tree House also operates locations in South Deerfield, Tewksbury, Sandwich, Woodstock, Connecticut, and Boston, while its current visitor information lists additional operations and experiences throughout New England.

One of the defining characteristics of Tree House Brewing is its emphasis on making products from start to finish. The brewery’s portfolio includes hazy and New England-style IPAs, double IPAs, lagers, stouts, sour beers, barrel-aged beers and seasonal releases. Beyond beer, Tree House has developed a significant coffee program, spirits operation and other beverage offerings, giving the company a broader identity than a traditional craft brewery.

Tree House has also developed a distinctive visual identity through its beer-can artwork. Special labels frequently become collectibles among craft beer enthusiasts, particularly when they commemorate unusual events, collaborations or cultural moments. The Jimothy beer can fits directly into that tradition.

The brewery’s popularity has helped make Tree House a destination for craft beer travelers throughout Massachusetts and New England. Its direct-sales model, frequent new releases and highly regarded beers have created a loyal following that closely watches Tree House’s daily releases and special packaging.

The Tree House Brewing Jimothy beer is therefore more than another can in an enormous craft beer lineup. It represents the brewery’s ability to recognize a cultural moment and translate it into something tangible for beer fans. By putting the viral raccoon Jimothy on a Tree House can, the brewery has created an unexpected intersection between craft beer, internet culture, animal fandom and collectible beer packaging.

For longtime Tree House fans, the Jimothy release is another piece of the brewery’s evolving story. For people who discovered Jimothy through social media, it is an amusing introduction to one of Massachusetts’ most famous independent breweries.
