Guinness Open Gate Adding River Well American IPA For Earth Day, Happy Birthday Chester! & Preakness 151 Rice Lager
Today brings an exciting new Earth Day 2026 beer release from Guinness Open Gate Brewery in Baltimore, Maryland. The brewery is gearing up to debut River Well, a bright and hop‑forward American IPA crafted to celebrate environmental stewardship and the brewery’s ongoing connection to local waterways and sustainability initiatives.
River Well is designed as a modern, aromatic American IPA, and it will float in at 7% ABV, offering a balanced blend of citrus, pine, and classic IPA bitterness. While full tasting notes are still to come, this Earth‑Day‑themed release is positioned to highlight both bold hop character and Guinness Open Gate Brewery’s creative approach to seasonal beers.
The beer will be packaged in 16‑oz cans, making it a standout addition to the brewery’s 2026 lineup and a likely favorite for IPA fans looking for a fresh, limited‑edition release tied to a meaningful cause.
Stay tuned for full River Well release details, including official launch timing, distribution plans, and complete flavor profile as Earth Day 2026 approaches.
I’ve also added in 2026 Preakness 151 Rice Lager (4.5%-AbV, 16-oz cans) & 2026 Happy Birthday Chester! ale brewed with blueberries and raspberries to celebrate the famous Guinness advertising Toucan Chester (5.5%-AbV, 16-oz cans.

“In recognition of Earth Day, we brewed this modern take on an American IPA. We take water seriously as brewers – it’s the primary ingredient in every beer – and we support the work of those who protect our precious waterways around the country.”
About Guinness Open Gate Brewery:
Although Arthur Guinness started brewing beer in Dublin, Ireland in 1759, brewing in other countries has long been a part of our story. We opened our first brewery outside of Ireland in London way back in 1936, and currently brew in nearly 50 countries around the world. While Ireland will always be our home, the beer industry here in the States is arguably the most dynamic and exciting in the world right now, and, put simply, we love being a part of it. This is our opportunity to show that we are more than just a single beer – we’re a brewery, capable of producing some of the most unique, innovative, and high-quality beer in the world. Our story is more than 260 years long – welcome to the newest chapter.
The Guinness Open Gate Brewery (or OGB for short) is the innovative and experimental arm of one of the world’s most beloved breweries. The original location was opened to the public in 2015, on the Dublin site that had been home to Guinness’s Product Research Unit, which was founded in 1904. In 2018, the first U.S. location was launched in Baltimore, MD, becoming the first stateside Guinness brewery in more than 60 years. The OGB focuses on creating new and innovative beers, serving unique and global cuisine alongside those beers, and highlighting the spirit of community, inclusivity, and hospitality that are the hallmarks of the Guinness brand.
