About Shiner Distillery:
Shiner Distillery is actually the K. Spoetzl Brewery, located in Shiner, Texas, which is also the home of Shiner beer and where both beverages are produced. The Spoetzl Brewery, founded in 1909 by German and Czech immigrants, is Texas’s oldest independent brewery and is now owned by the San Antonio-based Gambrinus Company. In addition to its popular Shiner Bock beer, the brewery also distills a variety of spirits, including whiskey, vodka, and gin. Visitors can tour the brewery and distillery, which showcases the brewing and distilling process, offers beer and spirits tastings, and highlights the history of the brand.
History & Heritage
Founding:The brewery was founded in 1909 as the Shiner Brewing Association to serve the local German and Czech immigrant communities.
Kosmos Spoetzl:In 1914, Kosmos Spoetzl, a Bavarian master brewer, took over, bringing his expertise and world-class recipes to the brewery, which now bears his name.
