MyBeer Buzz
We brought you news of this beer, and now the release details from 3 Floyds & Surly:
BLAKKR, an imperial black IPA that we brewed in collaboration with our friends at Three Floyds Brewing in Indiana and Real Ale Brewing in Texas, will start hitting liquor stores and bars in Minnesota on Monday, February 24.
Behold! From left: BLAKKR artist Michael Berglund, Real Ale Head Brewer Erik Ogershok,
Surly Head Brewer Todd Haug, and Three Floyds’ Barnaby Struve. Photo by Michael Wagner.
BLAKKR (an old Norse word for ‘dark’ or ‘black’) has been brewed at all three breweries, and will be distributed in our respective markets. Three Floyds bombers were released last Saturday and Real Ale‘s four packs of 12oz cans will be released on March 15 at SXSW with a performance by Surly’s head brewer, Todd Haug, and band, Vulgaari.
We’ll be doing a BLAKKR Can Release Party at Grumpy’s Northeast on Sunday, February 23 from 3-7pm, where there’ll be a limited amount of BLAKKR cans available. You can also get a limited edition BLAKKR poster signed by artist Michael Berglund. We’ll also be giving away a poster signed by all three breweries and the artist.
And we’ll be doing a BLAKKR Tap Release Party at Grumpy’s Downtown Minneapolis on Monday, February 24. BLAKKR will be tapped at 7:06pm. There’ll be a DJ from Into the Void, BLAKKR merch will be for sale and we’ll be giving away one limited edition BLAKKR poster signed by all three breweries and artist Michael Berglund.
As always, if you find BLAKKR, shout it out on Twitter with the #SurlyBLAKKR hashtag or on our Facebook page.
