Mims Distributing Company Adds Coronado Brewing Company to Its Portfolio

Brothers Ron and Rick Chapman founded Coronado Brewing Company in 1996 as a brewpub with a mission to celebrate their Southern California islander roots through the creation of exceptional beer. As demand grew throughout the San Diego community, Coronado Brewing Company expanded beyond the brewpub and partnered with a local craft distribution company to bring their hand-crafted brews throughout the state. By 2014, Coronado Brewing Company had expanded outside of California into over 20 states and ten countries and has opened a 22,000-square-foot building to keep up with growing demand.

Coronado Brewing Company focuses on bringing abundantly hoppy West Coast style ales to beer lovers throughout the country. The brewery and its brewmasters are currently the World Beer Cup Mid-Sized Brewery Champions, one of the most prestigious awards in the industry, with its Islander IPA winning a gold medal in the IPA category. Additionally, this past year Coronado Brewing Company opened a tasting room and restaurant in Imperial Beach, California.

The Triangle has become renowned for its distinguished craft beer industry. The state boasts the largest number of craft breweries in the South—more than 100 breweries and brewpubs. The Research Triangle area is gaining national recognition for its growing beer culture and number of craft breweries.
