I should start out by congratulating Coronado Brewing on their 20th Anniversary.  With 4,000+ other breweries out there competing for your pint glass, it’s no small feat to be in this market 20-years (especially on the west coast)…and to thrive in this market like Coronado has done, says a lot about the quality of the beer and people who make it.

To celebrate the occasion, Coronado is releasing their 20th Anniversary Imperial IPA.  We brought you an early peek at the packaging, and from that post back in May, I knew I couldn’t wait to try the beer.

Coronado 20th Anniversary Imperial IPA is a limited-edition release that follows the tradition of releasing a “huge hopped-up” imperial IPA to celebrate their anniversary each year.  20th Anniversary uses Citra, Mosaic, Hallertau Blanc and a “careful selection of experimental hops; and you can’t miss their contribution to the aroma.   Loads of tropical fruit and berry with a prominent mango aroma for me, followed by some resinous and sticky notes at the end.  This beer tastes a lot like it’s aroma would suggest with an even brighter mango/apricot flavor up front.  The finish is dank,  piney and resinous with just a touch of tropical fruit sweetness to balance out the end.

Coronado Brewing 20th Anniversary Imperial IPA will be available in 12oz bottles/4 packs, 22oz bottles & draft beginning July 1st in 18 states (including PA).  There will also be a birthday bash 7/30 (4pm-9pm) at Coronado to celebrate their 20th birthday.
