I go back a long way with both Rogue Ales & Spirits as well as Santa Claus himself…and while my relationship to Santa began pretty early, my enjoyment of Rogue beers also came pretty early. I’m proud to say I actually had a custom-labeled beer from Rogue for my wedding and also very proud to say that I’ve been enjoying Santa’s Private Reserve from the very first year it was brewed.

Originally brewed as a simple Belgian Dark holiday ale, Santa’s Private Reserve has now become a collaboration with Santa Claus over the last several years. Each new variant has added new ingredients like cherries and Candy Cap mushrooms, and for 2020, that trend continues. For 2020, Rogue will add Santa’s Private Reserve Peppermint Bark Milk Stout. That’s right, the new version will be a milk stout with peppermint and chocolate, and of course I can’t wait to taste it….so off we go.

Overall:  Rogue Santa’s Private Reserve Peppermint Bark Milk Stout is a really unique variant for this yearly release and a really unique sweet stout. The flavors of white and dark chocolate mix nicely with the peppermint on-board and the creamy soft milk sugar flavors. Overall this is a really drinkable milk stout with layers of flavor and complexity and a great addition to the Santa’s Private Reserve family.
