Fresh Hop Freaks Unite: It’s ON!!!
It’s happening, people. The fields are buzzing, the hops are sticky, and every brewer in Oregon is running around like maniacs because FRESH HOP SEASON is HERE. We’re not saying this is the best time of year… but actually, yes we are. It’s the absolute peak. And guess what? All FOUR of our fresh hop beers are officially pouring at Gigantic!
First up, the beast: Sodbusted Mecha Simcoezilla. This is the OG, the one we’ve been chasing every year. Built with Simcoe from Lakeside Ranch and Sodbuster Farms, it’s a pine-and-citrus freight train with tropical dank riding shotgun. Crack it and brace yourself—the aroma alone is going to slap your socks clean off.

Then there’s our Georgetown collab—because nothing says fresh hop chaos like teaming up with Seattle’s finest. We packed this IPA to the brim with Strata from TWO farms (Westwood + Goschie), and the result is pure hop mayhem: juicy citrus, glowing tropical fruit, and that unmistakable Strata stank. This one’s gonna be gone before you can say “freshies”.

Feeling crispy? Good. We hustled Tettnang cones from Goschie Farms into our Fresh Hop Pilsner. Herbal, spicy, bright, snappy—this lager is basically fresh hop season in a pint glass.

And because we couldn’t stop there, we’ve also got Centennial Fresh Hop IPA, loaded with Crosby Valley cones that were still buzzing when we dumped them in. Think waves of citrus, sticky green resin, and that once-a-year electric PNW punch that makes you remember why you live here.

Four fresh hop beers. All on tap and in cans. All RIGHT NOW. They won’t last, because fresh hop beer never does. So get your crew, get down to the taprooms, and taste the fleeting, glorious chaos that is fresh hop season. Also look for all four of these beers out in the wild at your favorite bar or beer store.

Because we love fresh hops so much, we have a special event planned for you in the taproom this Friday 19th. More details below!

Join Us Friday for Fresh!
It’s the most wonderful time of year—fresh hop season! Join Brewer Van Havig of Gigantic, hop grower Max Coleman of Coleman Farms, beer writer Jeff Alworth of Beervana, and Dave Selden of 33 Books Co. for an unforgettable evening celebrating the magic of hops straight from the bine.

The night will also feature a lively panel discussion with Van, Max, Jeff, and Dave, exploring what makes fresh hops so special. Accompanied by photos from this year’s harvest, it’s a chance to go behind the scenes of the fields and into the glass.

On tap, we’ll be pouring four incredible fresh hop beers: Fresh Hop Pilsner, Centennial Fresh Hop IPA, Sodbusted MechaSimcoezilla Fresh Hop IPA, and our collaboration Fresh Hop IPA with Georgetown Brewing, packed full of freshly harvested Strata hops.
In addition to the beer, Dave Selden and Jeff Alworth will debut a brand new poster celebrating ten iconic American hops, printed on Dave’s vintage 1909 printing press. Dave will also have a curated pop-up shop featuring this and other prints available for purchase.
It’s a lot to pack into one evening, and it’s sure to be a hop-soaked, memory-making celebration. Join us and raise a glass to fresh hop season!

Pro Wrestling Returns to Gigantic!
Saturday, October 11th – One Night Only
Get ready, Portland—Pro Wrestling is BACK at Gigantic Brewing, and this time it’s bigger, louder, and more outrageous than ever. We’re teaming up with North West Pro Wrestling and The Lucha Project to bring you four bone-rattling bouts of high-flying, hard-hitting action.
And that’s not all—between the suplexes and showdowns, we’re turning up the volume with a live performance by Reptile Lovechild. That’s right: it’s a hybrid spectacle where slammin’ wrestling meets shreddin’ rock.
This isn’t just an event. It’s a night of pure adrenaline—where the line between wrestling ring and rock stage gets smashed into pieces.

We’re excited to welcome Morchella to Gigantic Hawthorne for a month-long residency taking over our kitchen this October! Chef Cameron Dunlap is bringing his foraged, locally driven cuisine to our pub, giving it a Gigantic twist with an a la carte menu that will be available in the main taproom every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in October.
To kick things off, we’re hosting a one-of-a-kind dinner in our fancy Portrait Room at Hawthorne where every course is paired with Gigantic beers—guided by Chef Cameron Dunlap and our own Ben Love, co-founder and brewmaster. Expect foraged mushrooms, local meats, and vibrant local produce, all elevated by Morchella’s refined approach and perfectly matched with Gigantic brews poured and discussed by Ben himself.
Your ticket includes a multi-course menu, beer pairings, and gratuity. Seating is limited to keep the evening intimate, so secure your spot soon. Then come back throughout October to experience Morchella’s a la carte residency at Gigantic Hawthorne—where pub fare meets Pacific Northwest creativity.
