Ryne was ahead of the times in 2016 when he created the first homemade Freshie seltzer from ingredients in his refrigerator while on vacation in Mexico. “After a week of too many sugary margaritas, I needed to cure Paige’s hangover with a light and refreshing ‘hair of the dog’ cocktail, and it was love at first sip,” reflects Ryne of his first homemade concoction made with limes, tequila, agave and sparkling water. “The selzer category was just in its infancy with the introduction of White Claw and Truly, two big beverage brands, that are made with laboratory produces powdered flavors,” recalls Ryne. “We knew if we were on to something big with our 100% organic product and officially applied for trademark.”
With Paige’s strong family roots and history traveling to Mexico, they took a tour of a 103% solar powered, zero waste, 4th generation family owned all-organic site run distillery. “At the first visit Ryne stepped away and made everyone a Freshie,” explains Paige. “Our two families sat around the table sharing stories and our passion for goodness while enjoying the start of the Freshie empire.”

After spending over a year perfecting the formula, extensive testing reformulations and undergoing exhaustive USDA organic certification of both the drink and the distillery (oh, and all this during COVID and an 18 month shut down), the two families created the world’s first all-organic tequila seltzer!  It became a partnership based on a shared passion for the same, real people, real tequila and real fresh, organic ingredients that started it all!
