Tallgrass Anounces New Canned Relases: Idaho 7, Backpacker Brown, Moro St Wheat & More

New Single Hop IPA Series Launches This Fall with Idaho 7 IPA

The first release is brewed with Idaho 7, an experimental hop variety from Jackson Hop Farms in Wilder, Idaho, first released in 2015. This 6.5% IPA boasts 84 IBUs and pungent tropical fruit and citrus flavors like orange and papaya, with big notes of resiny pine and hints of black tea.

Initial shipments of draft packages will take place the weeks of 9/26 (local wholesalers), 10/3 and 10/10 across our distribution territories, with 16 oz. 4-packs available later in October.

The Single Hop IPA Series is designed to be a year-round offering, with new varieties rotating in each quarter. Idaho 7 will be available through the end of 2016, with the next variety dropping in January 2017.

Backpacker Brown Brings Together the Best of Both Worlds, Malt and Hops!

New to the year-round core lineup beginning this fall is Backpacker Brown, a 6.2% hoppy brown ale. Dark malts give it a rich, robust mouthfeel and a toasty, caramel-like aroma, with a generous dose of Columbus, Crystal, Chinook and Centennial hops providing 70 IBUs and a tasty balance of resiny and citrus hop flavors.

Final Explorer Series Release of 2016: One-Eyed Jacques Belgian-Style Stout

One-Eyed Jacques is a 9.0% Belgian-Style Stout with big, roasted malt character, notes of bitter dark chocolate and coffee, bold fruity esters, and raisin and fig-like qualities from Belgian yeast and Belgian candi sugar used in the brew. It’s dark, rich and full-bodied, all with distinct Belgian character with an underlying sweetness and slight spice.

Initial shipments take place the weeks of 11/7 (local wholesalers), 11/14 and 11/21 across our distribution territories. All future Explorer Series releases after One-Eyed Jacques will feature designs in line with our new, more cohesive brand identity.

Moro St. Wheat Launches as First Manhattan-Only Release

Available exclusively in our home market of Manhattan, Kansas, Moro St. Wheat is a light-bodied American wheat beer brewed with the perfect blend of wheat, malt and hops — and a bunch of love for the town we’ve been proud to call home since 2007. 

Slight notes of orange and grapefruit come from the addition of Belma hops, while malted white wheat provides a creamy, fluffy white head and pleasant bready aroma.

Moro St. Wheat is available in 16 oz. 4-packs and on draft in 1/2 bbl and 1/6 bbl kegs.

In Case You Missed It: Flyin’ Hawaiian Double IPA Brewed with Pineapple

A new Double IPA brewed with pineapple,Flyin’ Hawaiian, has shipped to all of our distribution territories. 

Brewed with Columbus, Falconer’s Flight, Mandarina Bavaria and Pacific Gem hops, the Flyin’ Hawaiian boasts earthy and pine notes with citrus, dark berries and tropical fruit flavors. A burst of fresh pineapple post-fermentation enhances the tropical fruit flavors of the hops, while a simple malt bill allows the hops to shine.

The Flyin’ Hawaiian is packaged in 16 oz. 4-packs and on draft in 1/2 bbl and 1/6 bbl kegs. It will be available for shipment to our wholesalers through October.
