Squatters Announces The Launch Of Squasatch Hoppy Pils

Salt Lake City – (April 1, 2016) – There is an elusive figure who lurks in the Squatters and Wasatch brewery, hiding amidst the tanks, ever on the hunt for the perfect lager.  So in tribute to this shadowy wanderer, Utah’s original brewery has created Squasatch Hoppy Pils – a beer brewed in the Bavarian tradition using Pilsner malt, copious amounts of Euro hops and then lagered for supreme drinkability.

The Squasatch image on the packaging is the face of longtime brewery employee Douglass Styer, affectionately known as “Chopper” and well known in both the Utah beer and music scenes.  With his hairy visage and big grin, not to mention his love of pilsners, Chopper is the perfect face for this great new beer.  And unlike the mysterious Sasquatch of legend, this is a beer that you can definitely believe in!

“Pilsner beers have always been a favorite beer style of mine” says Jon Lee, Director of Brewing and Cellar Operations.  “As a brewer they are one of the most difficult beers to make due to their flavor balances but when you do it right, they are a thing of beauty!  And we have definitely done this beer right!   Not only is this a great standalone beer, it also pairs well with every type of grilled and barbecued food you can imagine, so the timing of its release is perfect.”

In addition to our new Hoppy Pils, Squatters is also happy to announce the release of Live & Let Live Kristallweizen, a summer seasonal that celebrates a great German tradition in summer beers.  Malted wheat, barley and noble hops coexist in harmony to produce a refreshing crystal clear wheat ale – free of judgment.   This is a beer that pairs well with any food – in other words, it coexists with everything.  With a nice clove and banana flavor from the Weiss yeast and a wheat malt base, it is a very easy drinking beer.

For a delicious year-round offering, Snap Down is the newest addition to the Wasatch line up.  This canned India Pale Lager is a true leviathan of flavor, with a hoppy nose and a sleek malt character.  “This is really an American born style of beer, and we are happy to be one of the first in the country to be offering it” says Jon Lee.
