Sierra Nevada Reveals 2026 Oktoberfest Festbier Collaboration with Hoppebräu Handgmachts Bier

I know there’s still snow on the ground, but Sierra Nevada Brewing Co. is already looking ahead to fall with the first preview of its 2026 Oktoberfest Festbier. Brewed between Sierra Nevada’s breweries in Chico, California and Mills River, North Carolina, this annual release continues the tradition of partnering with a different German brewery each year. For 2026, Sierra Nevada is teaming up with Hoppebräu Handgmachts Bier from Waakirchen, Germany, bringing authentic Bavarian influence to this year’s lager.

The 2026 Oktoberfest Festbier is built as a classic German‑style festbier but with a few modern twists. The beer will come in at 6% ABV, offering a balanced, drinkable profile that fits the style while still delivering the malt richness Oktoberfest fans expect. In a break from tradition, Sierra Nevada and Hoppebräu are lightly dry‑hopping this year’s lager, adding a subtle lift of hop aroma without straying too far from the festbier’s smooth, malt‑forward character.

Packaging will include 12‑oz cans as well as draft/kegs, making it easy for both at‑home drinkers and beer bars to celebrate Oktoberfest season with this collaboration. With Sierra Nevada’s reputation for high‑quality seasonal lagers and Hoppebräu’s German brewing expertise, this 2026 Festbier is shaping up to be a standout entry in the brewery’s long‑running Oktoberfest series.

About Sierra Nevada Brewing:

Our founder, Ken Grossman, made a habit of chasing curiosity. His early years of backyard tinkering and covert science projects set the stage for the ultimate discovery: homebrewing.

On November 15, 1980, he put his first batch of craft beer to the test. That heady stout was a 13-hour labor of love, and after one sip, he knew he had a keeper. The Pale Ale that followed sparked a true craft beer revolution. The adventure’s never stopped, and our curiosity’s still brewing.
