Mybeerbuzz .com Highlights Wellamoon Sleep Patches (Review)

I always enjoy highlighting great beers and other food and drink-related products, but I also enjoy reviewing new products for personal care, electronics or even home-related products…and I especially enjoy these reviews if the product relates to my lifestyle.

It may not be something you are aware of, but sleep has always been difficult to come by for me, and with that in mind, I’m always excited to try out products that will help me get to sleep and stay asleep. It’s also safe to say that I’ve tried a LOT of things, so I have a really good perspective on what works and what simply doesn’t work where sleep is concerned.

If you’ve read or followed along with any of my reviews, you’ll know that I always manage to find a positive angle for any product. I also pride myself on the fact that in over 99.9% of all my reviews, there is a positive outcome.

Unfortunately with today’s test drive, the company has been so egregious in their dealing with the customer, that I felt compelled to warn you all to stay away.

If you’ve read the title of this review, you’ll already know I’m talking about a company called Wellamoon and a product they call Sleep Patches. These patches come in a pack of 28 patches for $28.45 plus tax and shipping. The patches contain Melatonin, Valerian Root, Magnesium Malate and even hops, and with their 30-day guarantee, I thought why not try them out…so I did.

Right out of the package, I can tell you that I was surprised to find that they simply smell awful. As soon as you open the pack, you’re hit with an odd and strong chemical smell. The patches can be worn on your arm, abdomen, back or even your ankle, but with the strong smell, they were hard to use even on your ankle. In the end the smell contributed to me not sleeping and even made my sheets stink.

Next up, the adhesive is strong enough that they stay on pretty securely, but so strong that Wellamoon recommends moving them to different locations on your body because if you use them in the same place on two consecutive nights, your skin actually can get irritated and peel off. This ruled out wearing them on my ankles every night and made for some painful removals on my wrists.

Even after all of this, I though that IF they actually worked and helped me get to sleep and stay asleep, I would try to look beyond the smell and skin irritation. Unfortunately, they didn’t work at all.

The patches did little to help me fall to sleep or stay asleep, and after a few tries, it felt as though they actually were keeping me awake…so I contacted Wellamoon customer service after my third night.

After a day or two, I heard back from Sahara at Wellamoon and she assured me that the patches will work and that they just don’t start working in three days. She said I should try them for more nights, and when I questioned her about that use voiding my 30-day warranty, she assured me that as long as I was within 30-days, they’d honor their warranty.

After trying them for a few more nights and even trying two at a time, it became obvious that they not only did not work as described and actually were harming my sleep and my skin.

I again contacted Wellamoon and requested a refund. As you can see at the top of this post, their main ordering screen states “30-Day Money Back Guarantee” and even while I was trying them out, I was receiving marketing e-Mail messages from their founder Olivia at Wellamoon and her solicitations stated:

We will refund you in case of zero effect. Patches didn’t work as expected? Or you felt that something was off? Write to us and we’ll sort it out!

So I wrote to them again and the response from Sahara was:

We’re sorry to hear the patches didn’t meet your expectations. However, as stated in our return policy, refunds are only applicable to unopened and unused products.
Since the product has already been used, we’re unable to process a refund in this instance. We truly value your feedback and appreciate your understanding regarding this matter.
Should you have further questions or concerns, don’t hesitate to ask – I would be glad to help.
Kindly, Sahara
Wellamoon team

I asked several times how I could possibly know if they worked or not work if I didn’t open them? I asked why they would encourage me to keep using them if opening them was voiding the warranty and they simply replied with the same message over and over again. I reminded Sahara that as their marketing materials stated (see the marking graphic above), my “patches didn’t work as expected,” I had “Zero Effect” and I felt “something was off”…and they still refused to consider a refund.

I’m sad to report that Wellamoon appears to be a scam. The patches smell awful, the patches harm your skin, the patches simply don’t work AND the 30-day money back guarantee is a lie.

This is a rare case where I strongly recommend you avoid any dealings with Wellamoon.
