Mybeerbuzz.com Highlights Fort Collins Oktoberfest 2016

I brought you a peek at this new packaging back in April, and ever since that post, I couldn’t wait to see it in person.  This is the 2016 canned version of Fort Collins Oktoberfest and I’m excited to say this is actually the very first Oktoberfest beer I’ve tried in the 2016 season.

Fort Collins Oktoberfest may be the very same delicious Oktob beer it was in 2015, but when you add in the new 12oz can packaging AND you add in the new hardware it carries for 2016, it seems to just taste better.  In case you missed it, Fort Collins Oktoberfest won 2015 GABF Gold for this beer and the new packaging was designed to re-affirms Fort Collins brewing history and their “passion for brewing German beers”…and what better German beer to brew.

This beer is a Dortmunder/German-style Oktoberfest so it has wonderful bready and caramel aromas and a really drinkable light body.  This beer uses 100% German ingredients and the classic ingredients really translate to a classic flavor profile.  If that’s not enough, FCB Oktoberfest uses a single decoction mash to “achieve a super traditional malt profile.”  The flavor has lots of pleasant caramel notes but the sweetness is balanced out nicely with their choice of German noble hops.  The finish is lightly carbonated with some herbal spiciness to clean up the initial sweetness, making for a nice dirnkable and classic lager.

Oktoberfest will return for it’s third year as the first FCB seasonal released in cans.  It will start hitting shelves on Aug 11th on draft and in 6-packs…
