Lakewood Brewing Toasts Fourteen Years on Tap with Anniversary Bash
Lakewood Brewing Company is getting ready to celebrate a major milestone as the Garland, Texas brewery marks 14 years of craft beer across Texas. The family-owned brewery will bring its anniversary tradition back to the taproom on Saturday, August 29, with an afternoon built around special beer releases, live music, food, vendors and plenty of Lakewood personality.
The centerpiece of this year’s celebration is Lion’s Share XIV, an American Barley Wine brewed specifically for the 14th anniversary. For longtime Lakewood fans, the annual Lion’s Share release is more than another limited beer—it is an opportunity to look back at the brewery’s history through a series of increasingly collectible anniversary beers. Guests will also have the opportunity to sample special beers from Lakewood’s past and present and take home a commemorative Lion’s Share tasting glass.
The anniversary party also brings back one of Lakewood’s most entertaining brewing traditions: beer poking. Using a heated brewing poker to caramelize sugars in the beer, the centuries-old technique will give attendees an opportunity to experience a piece of brewing history while talking directly with Lakewood owner Wim Bens and members of the brewing team. With music, local vendors, food from the Lakewood kitchen and a lineup of special beers, the 14th Anniversary Party is shaping up to be a full afternoon of Texas craft beer culture.
Lakewood Brewing has built quite a history on MyBeerBuzz, from last year’s Lucky 13th Anniversary Celebration and the brewery’s annual Lion’s Share tradition to coverage of Temptress Blonde, Irish Cream Temptress and the more recent Fruition Pineapple Ginger Blonde and Raspberry Temptress releases.
