From Full Sail:

One of the most wonderful parts of being an Oregon brewer is that we have all the hop fields so close by, and at harvest, we can smell as the air brightens with the wonderful aroma of hops. Our 26th anniversary beer is a tribute to all those hop growers, whose family farms have been passed on generation to generation, and like our barley farmers, grow one of the four foundations for all brews. Without the farmers and their dedication to their craft – we could not pursue our craft. Deep in the Willamette Valley, at Sodbuster Hop Farm, there is an entire field of Salmon Safe Cascade hops that are grown especially for Full Sail, and it is in the spirit of this aromatic partnership that we brewed our 26th anniversary beer – Full Sail “26” Cascade Pilsner.

"26” is a Northwest take on a European classic and features intense aromas of pine and spice with citrus notes and is supported by a medium body, dry malty palate, and is balanced with a long, clean, herbal hop finish. (ABV 6% IBU 60)  It will be available throughout our 26th year on draft and in 22 oz bottles.

“On September 27, 1987 we opened our doors to living the dream. A dream to open a small brewery that focused on quality, creativity, and authenticity. A brewery that we would run with respect for our employees, the environment, and our community. A brewery that reflected our deep respect for the art and science of brewing. So here we are 26 years later. Very humbled, grateful, and amazed that we got here in one piece. Still a mix of beer geeks and boardheads. Still independent. Still trying to find that perfect balance between art and commerce, work and play, inspiration and perspiration. We are very grateful to our fellow employee owners, our distributors, and our retail partners, all who helped to make our dream real and thriving for 26 years. And mostly, we are deeply grateful to every one of our customers who have toasted, celebrated, quenched their thirst, and enjoyed our beers over the last 26 years. We thank you all for living the dream along with us," said Irene Firmat, Full Sail’s CEO & Founder.

Next time you’re in Hood River, stop by for a beer, sit out on our deck, enjoy the amazing view, and toast to another great year in beer!

Oktoberfest!

Why fly to Munich for a genuine Oktoberfest Lager when this one could be inches from your lips? The newest addition to Full Sail’s Limited Lager Series (LTD), Oktoberfest is the seventh recipe in the LTD line-up. Although it’s new to the LTD series, the recipe is a Full Sail classic originally brewed back in the 1990s.
“At Full Sail we love our lager beers! As Oregon’s largest brewer of lager craft beer styles, we are thrilled to bring back one of our favorite recipes. This
award-winning beer garnered 3 consecutive gold medals at the World Beer Championships in 1997, 1998 and 1999,” said Jamie Emmerson, Full Sail’s Executive Brewmaster. Brewed especially for Oktoberfest season, six-packs and kegs will be available for the month of September in limited quantities.

A Hop Lover’s Delight – Fresh Hop Pilsner

Located in the heartland of hops, every year the Full Sail brewers wait with thirsty anticipation for hops harvest and the chance to celebrate by brewing fresh hop beers. When the hops are at their peak, the Full Sail brewers truck out to the hop fields to collect the aromatic bounty. These seasonal wonders will go from field to brew kettle within a matter of hours and the magic begins.
This year, Full Sail celebrates the season’s first hops with Fresh Hop Pilsner Lager, showcasing the Cascade hop variety. "This beer highlights the brewer’s art as well as nature’s gift,” said Full Sail’s Executive Brewmaster Jamie Emmerson. The hops were locally grown at Sodbuster Farms, which is a
Salmon Safe certified hop grower.

This draft-only brew has a fresh herbal character and classic pils hop aroma, making a refreshing pilsner-style beer with a smooth body and crisp, clean finish. (ABV 6.0% IBU 60)  Available late September to November throughout the Pacific Northwest at several Fresh Hop Festivals, and at the Hood River Harvest Festival.

Coming Next in our Brewer’s Share Series: Big Daddy J’s Imperial Lager

We are stoked to announce the next beer in our Brewer’s Share Series – Big Daddy J’s Imperial Lager.  The J in Big Daddy J’s is our own Jason Munoz, an OSU brew-sci grad who recently became a bonafide Big Daddy. This big-yet-balanced lager celebrates the latest milestone in his big — and now ever-so-slightly-less-balanced — life. Congrats Jason!

An easy-drinking, small batch beer hopped with German Hallertau Hersbruckers to fuel your inner Beer Czar. According to Jason, BDJ is simple and delicious. It’s golden in color and perfectly balanced so that its clean and drinkable smoothness makes that 8% alcohol go down so easily. IBU 28

In 2008 we created our small batch Brewer’s Share series as an opportunity for each of our individual brewers to express their creations to be shared on tap exclusively in our pub. Since the crew came up with so many great beers, we decided to share a selection of them with beer lovers everywhere.

For each Brewer’s Share beer, the brewery supports a local charity or organization by donating a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the beer. Jason has chosen to support Helping Hands Against Violence with his Brewer’s Share. The beer was released in 22oz. bottles and on draft the month and will be available through the fall season. The next beer in the series is Wreck the Halls.
