Flying Fish Announces More FU Sandy Grants Awarded

Great news from our pal Gene Muller at Flying Fish:

We’ve made our second round of FU Sandy grants.  This time we’re focusing our efforts on the Bayshore side of the state, which saw significant damage to towns, its fishing industry and its environment.

We’re also contributing $15,000 to the Partnership for the Delaware Estuary–the great folks who helped us secure the local oysters we used in the Exit 1 Oyster Stout.  This grant is designated to the Money Island Living Shoreline project. The goal is to create an environment that will benefit fish and wildlife and at the same time protect the shoreline, roads and buildings from encroaching water.  The road that will be protected by this project is the only access road for a significant commercial fishing fleet, helping protect the viability of the many jobs local residents depend on.

These two grants bring our total donation to Sandy restoration efforts to $62,500. We’re hoping to keep adding to that total as the summer goes on.

Later this week we’ll be dropping two new 150 barrel fermenters through the hatch in the roof to help us add desperately needed capacity. Each tank will be able to brew about 2,000 cases every two weeks. These US made tanks come to us from JV Northwest in Oregon and will help us catch up on those beers in short supply–especially Exit 4 & 16.
