Appalachian Barrel Company is a Kentucky-based bourbon brand founded by three individuals with deep roots in Eastern Kentucky, aiming to tell the story of the mountains through their bourbon. They craft their bourbon with pride, following both time-honored traditions and a modern sensibility. In contrast, the West Virginia Great Barrel Company (WV GBC) is a high-tech cooperage in West Virginia, established to do better for the community by making high-quality barrels from Appalachian oak using advanced technology and automation.

At Appalachian Barrel Company, our story is deeply rooted in the rugged hills of Eastern Kentucky, where generations before us cut oak, hauled water, and shared whiskey beneath the same skies that crown today’s Appalachian Mountains. We are three founders—bound by blood, friendship, and the bourbon-soaked soil of our homeland. Our families have called these mountains home for generations, and that heritage informs every barrel we bottle. Though our Kentucky bourbon is crafted in the heart of the Bluegrass, it is the spirit of Appalachia that runs through everything we do.
