Chicago’s Hop Butcher & Billy Corgan’s Madame ZuZu’s Brew Smashing Pumpkins Beer
CHICAGO , Illinois (November 5, 2025) – Chicago brewery Hop Butcher For The World and
Madame ZuZu’s Emporium, the Highland Park, Illinois based tea shop owned by Smashing
Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan and his wife Chloé Mendel Corgan, have joined forces for
a fourth time – this time to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Smashing Pumpkins iconic
album “Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness.”
The celebratory beer, “Twilight To Starlight,” is an 8.0% ABV hazy Double India Pale Ale
hopped with Motueka, Ella and Simcoe hops and lightly infused with a Tropical Fruit Medley
tea from Madame ZuZu’s Emporium. The name is inspired by the original album artwork and
the names of the “sides” of the album in their vinyl or CD formats.
Twilight to Starlight will be packaged in 16-ounce cans and will be available for sale starting
Wednesday, November 12th at 3:00pm at Hop Butcher’s brewery, taproom and retail store
located at 4257 North Lincoln Avenue in Chicago. 4-packs of the collaboration beer will be
distributed to Chicagoland stores via self distribution by the brewery between Wednesday,
November 12th and Friday, November 14th. For a list of locations receiving an allocation,
please visit www.hopbutcher.com/findourbeer.
Can pours and artwork screenprints of “Twilight To Starlight” also will be available for sale at
all seven sold-out Lyric Opera of Chicago’s “A Night of Mellon Collie and Infinite Sadness”
performances. Those run from November 21st to November 30th, 2025.
“Madame ZuZu’s was born out of a love for collaboration and celebrating our home; the city by
the lake. Hop Butcher is one of those Chicago institutions we adore – endlessly creative and
devoted to the art. Partnering on something like Twilight to Starlight captures everything we
adore about this community: good people, good ideas and a shared spirit of fun and culture,”
says Chloé Mendel Corgan.
Hop Butcher and Madame ZuZu’s have previously teamed up on collaboration brews that
include 2021’s “Soul Head” (to celebrate the anniversary of the Smashing Pumpkins’ first
record, Gish), 2022’s “ZuZu’s Winter Garden Pale ale” and 2023’s “Siamese Suds” (to
celebrate the anniversary of the Pumpkins’ second record, Siamese Dream).
“We can hardly believe it’s been three decades, but Mellon Collie is a musical masterpiece and
quite literally one of the most iconic of all time,” says Hop Butcher co-founder Jeremiah
Zimmer. “That we had the opportunity to work with Billy, Chloé and the ZuZu’s team to honor it
with a Hop Butcher beer is pinch-me material.
